I am not a professional reviewer, and this is just my opinion.
Yesterday afternoon June 10th, three countries in three hours... Norway, Denmark, Sweden, a first for us... We are now in Angelholm, a lovely town in Skåne - Southern Sweden - where I first met my friend Sven in 1962... We're staying at the Klitterhus Hotel, where back then people from all around (and a frisky student from Southern France...) would gather on weekends to dine and dance. On the second floor, there was a large ballroom with a live band, a huge bar and a small casino. The restaurant was - and still is - downstairs, but the ballroom has been turned into a 14-room hotel, where we're occupying Room #6, with great views of the beach. They have kept the original hardwood floors, for me a trip down memory lane, because on that floor I took many a lovely local blonde for a spin or two... It was late when we got there, but the kitchen obligingly stayed open for us and served us a terrific three-course special dinner-of-the-day. Breakfast, by the way, was also excellent with many choices. Delightful, helpful service was offered at all times.
One caveat, though: if the restaurant is holding a dance or some sort of special event, don't expect to sleep upstairs until midnight - or unless you use earplugs. And if the wind starts blowing hard from the Northwest, the waves can get rather noisy. But when the stars align, Klitterhus is a delightful, romantic throwback from the past.
