This is a fairly small hotel with a very personal feel. The staff makes you feel at home. Nice, big room (on the back-side of the building). Furniture maybe a bit old-fashioned, but all in all very nice. Big bathroom. Nice lounge with free coffe and biscuits, where you can view street life (not much of that in Kristianstad). And maybe best of all a very big breakfast buffet, Anything you can reasonably expect from a hotel in this price-category. Public parking (against payment) in stree in front of hotel.

First impression is always important when judging a hotel. At Hotel Sirius first impression wasn't too good! First of all, we had the night before stayed at fabulous Hotel Master Johan in Malmö, so we were a bit spoiled. The exterior is a nice old building, but because of the traffic it was very dirty. We had to ring a bell to enter, but no one opened. Then we had to phone them! The lovely girl in the reception was doing the rooms upstairs and didn't hear the bell, but they should have connected the bell to her phone so I didn't have to phone them! When we were let in she offered us the apartment. We normally aren't too pleased with apartments because they tend to be much less nice furnished then a hotel room. But we gave it a try. We had to cross the back yard and entered inside the apartment a staircase which led to a simple apartment which we definitely didn't like! At the end we got the superior room which we had booked in the first place. This room was OK. The breakfast the next morning was good and the receptionist was lovely. In the common rooms there were many lovely furnitures, but also some pieces that did clash totally with the other interior. This hotel should replace some of it's furniture and find another solution regarding the entering bell.

This was our 5th hotel on our driving tour around the south of Sweden. We had been staying at fairly fancy hotels, so our first impression of Hotel Sirius was not the best (but keep reading). We arrived in the late afternoon after a long drive and got a parking spot on the street right outside the front door. Unfortunately, there was a LOUD rock concert in the park across the street with screamo type music invading our ears. To enter the hotel, you need to press an intercom buzzer. This raised some safety concerns, but in the end we felt it was quite safe. The young woman at the front desk was so nice and welcoming. Our room was spacious, but just not what we were used to. The furniture was very dated and everything seemed a bit rustic. It took us a bit to get used to it, but after a while we began to really like the many nice things about this hotel. There was a great gathering space on the 2nd floor with a beautiful balcony. This would make it a great place to stay with a group of friends or family. The location was terrific. The breakfast buffet had many nice choices with plenty of seating. The entire place was clean, comfortable and all the staff were very friendly. The rock concert was a bit loud, but our room was near the back and it didn’t really keep us awake. In the end, we decided it was our problem for being snobbish at first and not realizing what a lovely place this really is.

Conveniently located opposite the park.
Room was spacious.
Excellent staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the park, a little noise from the road but this doesn't go on too late

We stayed at this hotel on our way back home from Sweden Rock Fest. The Location is very convenient. Very close to a city center, just turn round the corner and you are already there. Very convenient for sightseeing.
There is a large parking area just in front of the hotel (right across the road).
We were welcomed very warmly.
The hotel itself is very cozy and has this "at home" feeling in it. I loved the decor, every part of it. Our room was rather spacious and clean.
On our floor was a beautiful common area with atique furniture and a kitchen cabinet with complimentary tea/coffee facilities. My personal favourite was the balcony facing the street where you can sit down and relax while watching the city-life flowing just in front of you.
My best recomendations.

The Sirius Hotel in Kristianstad is an excellent mid-range hotel. It's a family-run hotel with a helpful proprietor. Rooms aren't fancy and have slightly odd bathroom configurations, but are clean, sizable with comfortable beds. Convenient to downtown Kristianstad and the local park. Friendly to families with babies. Fabulous breakfast buffet included in room price. Free internet access too. Some limited parking available but city lot available across the street. Smallish elevator and somewhat inconvenient handicap access through courtyard; the main entrance involves six or eight steps. No air conditioning so it got a bit stuffy on hottest July days, but our room always cooled off at night and was comfortable for sleeping. Fairly quiet in front and back rooms. No smoking anywhere in hotel. Again, not super luxurious, but a solid value for the money and clean and safe.
