Not many local authorities would have issued a building permit for these apartment houses. Not that they do not fulfill all current building regulations - they do - but who would want a mini Lübeck put up in the middle of a field? But that is exactly what you are going to see.
Here you will find cobble stone streets, small yards, no cars, minuscule squares and 400 apartments in houses that have been made to look as if they had been put up some 500 years ago. When you enter one of the larger houses, you will suddenly be transported into the 21st century with marble floors, lifts and all modern amenities.
Note however a very big parking lot, much too big for the locals alone. It is there because of a highly praised Christmas market every year. I have not been to one of those, but if you have the opportunity, go at that time because that will probably make the illusion much more persuasive. I visited the place on June during the day and it must be said that at that time it appears awfully quiet. There is practically nobody present. The inhabitants have not yet returned from work in Lund and Malmö. Also there are very few stores. In other words: The place appears rather dead.
Now, here comes the catch. Right next to it there is going to come many more apartments but modern both outside and inside. I fear that will make Jakriborg look even more weird than it already does. So hurry up and go there for the next Christmas market!
