I've spent many nights at this hotel while traveling on business. It has that something special or extra about it. Littlebit faded but not worn down. Front desk staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. The breakfast buffet attention to quality shows. The bar and restaurant seem to have a nice buzz to it even on weekdays which is all more a reason to stay there. The WiFi network is not well laid out. Corner and far away rooms can barely connect with mobile devices. No 5GHz band access points in use so it can also get a bit congested. If WiFi is not your primary concern then just book it!

Room Tip: Rooms on lower floors towards the street can be noisy

I spent one night at the Grand Hotel, Lund, while visiting the university. The hotel feels like it is plucked out of the 1930s. The rooms are comfortable, though not fancy. Decent amenities, reliable and fast wifi, nice shower. But it is the lounge and restaurant that make the hotel. Great place to hang out and enjoy a drink while people watching. Good breakfast.

Lovely and genuine old hotel. The breakfast is really tasty and the food in the restaurant is very good. The room deluxe was really nice and the bed good. Its a little bit noisy in the mornings from traffic outside.
I am always satisfied and love to come back soon again.

The Grand promises a lot: wonderful location (the centre of the centre), minutes from the train station (which is a shock to UK dwellers by virtue of its efficiency, cleanliness and wonderful connections - 10m to Malmo, 33 to Kastrup/CPH, with trains every few minutes at peak)...

The first impressions are also grand - it looks straight from the Regency playbook - a sort of Nordic Brighton-esque lump of a hotel taking up one side of the square.

The Lobby, with its high ceiling, grand central staircase, stained glass at the back, restaurant to the left and ballroom to the right, sets the scene nicely. Friendly and welcoming staff complete the picture.

My room (3rd floor, overlooking the side street) was just about 4*, but perhaps a 3 would have been more accurate. Slightly small, and perhaps decorated with too much of a 1930s vibe, it was nevertheless entirely pleasant. A charming touch was the Bang and Olufsen CRT TV - that 'Danish' feel!

Top marks for the presence of very good, free wifi throughout.

If I were being picky I would note that the decor was a little faded, but not unpleasantly. There're no safes in the rooms (perhaps there's no crime in Lund) and not all rooms have baths.

My only complaint would be the poor soundproofing. Mounting TVs on walls just pushed base noise and chatter through the walls, but the external soundproofing was also poor (I heard the deliveries in the morning, and evening revellers at night). Again, not enough to make me not stay there again, but a niggle nonetheless.

The restaurant in the evening was absolutely spectacular. A group of six of us dined and we had a regionally-focused menu, majoring (for me) on fish. I had a couple of new dishes and the presentation was assured, while the flavours were just excellent. This was a real find, and the fact that the restaurant was totally packed shows that this is more than 'just' a hotel restaurant, and is a draw in its own right.

The next morning, however, much of the capability was clearly having a lie in and breakfast was a bland affair of meat slices and not much else, and a total inability to create a poached egg.

In all I liked this hotel and would probably roll the dice on a second stay. Parts of it were just grand, others were grand-ish. It was the friendly staff that turned this from a 3* review to a 4*, just.

The Grand hotel feels exactly the way it sounds. The lobby and other common areas on the ground floor look straight out of the 3'ies and the rooms have a lovely combination of modern and comfortable and at the same time keeping the atmosphere.
The beds are comfortable, everything nice and clean, staff polite, helpful and very pleasant. Breakfast buffet in the morning is delicious and offers a wide range of choice.
Lund being very small, I assume that all hotels in Lund are centrally located, Grand even more so if you arrive by train.
All in all, if you want to treat yourself to something nice during your stay in Lund, Grand is a good choice.

Room Tip: Room 552 has a great roof terrace.

Grand hotel is a classic hotel in Lund with a very good location. It has a nice lobby with a huge stair case, all made to make a grand and welcoming entrance.
The bar is good, but pricey, and the breakfast is very nice. All well and good, exactly what you expect from hotel in this price category. But since it is old the rooms are also small, they are renovated and nice but small. And no tea or coffee in the room, which I sort of expect in a Grand hotel.

The Grand is THE hotel in the centre of Lund, Sweden's famous university city. Some of the circular turret rooms are amazing with windows on four sides and views over the city.
The food is traditional Swedish with little concession to the international business traveller, but it is well cooked.
All staff speak excellent English.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room in one of the gothic towers.
