I stayed at Clarion hotel in Malmoe for one night on a business trip. The experience was very rewarding. I would summarise the atmosphere of the hotel as one of 'relaxed and comfortable elegance'. The hotel pays attention to small detail: from the minimalist, warm decoration of the hallway and the corridors leading to the rooms, to soft bedding, cotton towels and the wood flooring in the room. The breakfast was continental with a good choice of food, including traditional Swedish delicacies, and a range of breads. The price (a bargain at 65GBP through Expedia) included free dinner buffet which I didn't try, but which looked equally tempting as the breakfast. The staff at the reception were candidly friendly and very efficient. Check in and check out took under 10s in each case!

I hope to be visiting Malmoe often and enjoying many more stays at the Clarion. BTW, the hotel is only 5-8 min walk from the train station, so it's well situated if you're flying in and out of Copenhagen on short trips.

4* is way too ambitious, I honestly expected better. They pictures of this Hotel are too nice, the actual hotel isn't as nice. The room was extra small for a standard room in a 4 * hotel. I didnt think it was very clean - it was ok. It is quite central and the only other thing is that you get free internet access from their pc downstairs. The food was horrible - if you are on a diet, good place to go as you wont eat. You had to pay for drinks separately even though you had already paid for room + meals. They served normal food - eggs, sausages, cold meat, gravy, rice, potatoes, meat etc, but if you were late the food would be finished, not that it mattered much as it was horrible anyway. There are some good restuarants around - and opposite the hotel there is an off licence type store, which opens till late. Their rooms also don't have minibars. They also had dirty towels, which they asked me to take downstairs to reception, when I went there, they replaced them with another dirty towel. No room service - No water in your room to drink you have to go all the way downstairs or drink bathroom water. If you are looking for luxury - look elsewhere.

A very good hotel in a great location. Breakfast and buffet dinner included in the rate, both very good. Good selection of restaurants within 2 minute walk of the hotel, all serving excellent meals. An excellent bed - very comfortable and the mini suite I stayed in was really quiet and peaceful.

The Clarion is a charming old hotel in Malmö's old town. The location is perfect for sightseeing but makes the hotel very tricky to access by car. The hotel also has limited parking capacity. A useful tip is to buy the Malmö card which gives free on street parking anywhere in town as well as access to museums and public transit (althougn not to Lund).

There seems to be an old and new wing. I stayed in the old wing facing the street. The ceilings were very tall and the window enormous. Hardwood flooring and quality wood furniture made the room feel elegant and cosy. The hallways feature alcoves housing African statuettes - a very unusual and lovely touch.

Common areas include a breakfast / dinner area which is a bit sterile but a series of lounges which look amazingly comfortable. They must be warm and welcoming in the winter.

Some room rates (all?) include a dinner buffet. The atmosphere is somewhat institutional, with bright lighting and long tables. Also, the buffet contains mainly salads. Main dishes are provided erratically. Day 1, some chicken thighs were available but ran out while we were having salad. 30 minutes later, staff returned with pork skewers. Day 2, the main course was soup with meat chunks that did not quite seem homemade. Alternatively, turn right from the main entrance and the cross streets as well as Lilla Torget contain many enticing restaurants. Bloom is a restaurant in the hotel building but it was closed in the summer.

One feature common to all Clarion hotels I have stayed at in Sweden is their strange internet policy. The hotel generously provides internet but only for for up to 8 CONSECUTIVE hours per day. It means that you must choose between accessing the internet in the morning or at night!

We stayed in this hotel in Apr 2006. Malmo as a town is extremely quiet and relaxing. Included in our deal with hotel was a magnificent breakfast and also an evening meal so do pay the extra for the meals. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and even though the sauna was not working at the time of our stay, we had a really relaxing well fed few days. Central to everywhere, Malmo is tiny!!

I have stayed in this hotel afew times now. Last time i booked a mini suite and I must say all was perfect. The roomsize was above avarage (mini suite) and the colorscheme was very nice. Perfect location and hotel often offers very good deals. Breakfast is avarage. The hotel dont have a gym atm but offers a sauna for people who wants. If they could add some health club facilities this would be top notch.

I can warmly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling, and especially the mini suite, well worth the extra costs if your spending more than 1 or 2 nights.
