Think I was blinded by the company logo featuring 4**** in its emblem, hence I figured it to be a decent hotel, but I was mislead. Have previously stayed in the chain's Gothenburg Park (Götaplatsen) hotel, which was great. That may have confused too?

Anyway, purpose with stay was to sleep overnight as close as possible to Copenhagen/Kastrup airport, as I had a flight to catch 5:55 am. My first choice was of course the Hilton @ Kastrup. Yet the price tag for Hilton was way too much. Other reasonable Danish options were @ 3km taxi distance from Kastrup. Thus I picked this hotel, VERY close to the Malmö station -- connected via train to CPH airport (22 mins).

Think a **/2 star ranking would be more appropriate. Its sister, the Savoy, is hopefully better? Think I saw in total 2 other guests? Got over an info brochure saying the hotel opened in the mid-1980s. Don't think they have lifted a finger ever since then. Overall sloppy, outdated impression.

Wifi didn't work at that time. Tips to staff: get the dirty windows cleaned + dust off (e.g. top of crappy hair dryer).

Next time, if I ever leave out of CPH, I will aim for an overnight directly in Amsterdam or other connecting leg to final destination.

Took a flying visit to Malmo, so I looked for a hotel that was close to everything I needed to see: and this was it. It's only a 2 minute walk to the Central Train Station, where the airport bus terminates. The train station itself is a very handsome building and houses the city's tourist informaiton office. I was not able to find good maps of Malmo on the internet, but the tourist office had all the information and maps I wanted.

The hotel is situated on a corner site. My room faced onto a small road and was extremely quiet, if a little dark. The other side of the hotel faces onto the canel and the station.

I arrived around 10.00 hours and was able to check into my room (I had e-mailed ahead to request an early check in): which was a plus. The room was small but adequate for one person. However I was concious that people in the office across the very narrow road could see directly into the room during the day and the only way to avoid this was to close the heavy curtains. A light weight blind that would allow light to pass through would be good.

Like the other review: the breakfast was so vast it catered for all tastes and the temptation to mix and match was difficult to resist. The only minus was the machine which made the coffee: I would have prefered a good old pot of freshly brewed coffee rater than pushing a button.

The room and bathroom were clean and well maintained. The staff on the reception were hospitable and chatty, which is always nice. I would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Elite Residents in mid-August 2005. Though we were only in Malmo for one night, we really enjoyed our stay. The location is incredible. You are literally half a block from the main square (Stororget), which leads directly to the smaller, funkier, and livlier Lilla Torg square, with its multitude of restaurants and bars. Sodergatan, the main pedestrianized street, is only a block away. The central train station is directly across the canal from the hotel, and the canal boat tours originate a few steps from the hotel door.

The rooms were on the small side (not unusual for Scandinavia) and amenities few, but they were nicely-designed and well-kept. The bathroom was nice, and had a heated towel rack. The room, lobby, and common areas were all kept very clean, and the service was perfectly acceptable (we only interacted with the front desk staff at check-in.)

The best part of the stay, however, was undoubtedly the breakfast. By far the largest continental breakfast I have seen, with plenty of meats, cheeses, cereal, breads, etc. to choose from. The breakfast room was really nice, with large bay windows looking out over the canal.

All in all, this is a great hotel for the budget conscious. Highly recommended.
