“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

What can you say? Great location to Central station, town centre and other attractions. Service nice and friendly. Room clean and tidy with tea and coffee. Only negative side was the rooms window has look to other building opposite so everyone could see what's going on. Loved breakfast. Spacious breakfast room with all sorts of food from continental to English breakfast. Would stay again.

The hotel was built in 1987, I guess it must have been renovated at some point but it was a while ago. My room was not very big but everything worked and was in a good condition, although rather old. The breakfast was good, the only thing that bothered me was that the lady in the restaurant greeted neither me nor any other guest.
All in all, considering the price of less than 60 euro or 500 SEK and some change, it is a hotel I can recommend. I have stayed at hotels where I haid to pay 2 or 3 times more where the room was in much worse condition.

I stayed two nights at this hotel as I came in for a concert. I'd never been to Sweden before so this was my first exposure and not only was the city lovely and quaint but I loved the hotel too. The two main reasons I booked the hotel was price (a good value) and location (VERY close to the central train station as I had a 5:10am train). As it turned out, the staff were very friendly and the rooms were really nice. A darker wood decor but the bathroom was spacious and bright plus they had free wifi (very good speed I might add) and a lot of teas to choose from plus packets of hot chocolate. The reservation I made included breakfast which was a really nice buffet that included a number of Swedish based things (I saw something I think was more their pancakes but we'd consider little crepes in America) and for the day I left early, the night staff told me he'd have tea ready for me plus they had croissants and rolls to take on the run. All the sites I wanted to see were within walking distance (anywhere from half a mile to about 2 miles) so that made it extremely easy to get around and not have to figure out public transport.

I hope to come back to Sweden as I truly enjoyed my stay while there and I'd not hesitate to stay at this hotel again! =o)

I spent three days here at a conference and chose this hotel as it was walking distance to the town centre as well as the conference venue. The price was rather high as compared to the value offered. For instance, the gymn they promise you is actuallyvlocated in another, much more pleasant Elite hotel two blocks away, which charged about the same price, as I found out too late.
This hotel, however, is definitely in need of a facelift. The staff was effective but not overtly friendly. The room was okay for a three star and WIFI worked well. Breakfast was worse than I had expected from previous stays in Scandinavia and a bit too expensive.

Next time I will consider to book another place as there are plenty of choices in the area.

In the old days the head of SAS (and, no, not the british SAS, but the Swedish/Scandinavian airline company), Jan Carlzon, made a splash with the new invention called service-minded-ness. In the old days what was offered customers was merely the service, but not the mind. And as we all know, minds and hearts, people, minds and hearts. Most places in Sweden will still be mediocre on the service-part, maybe it's just the culture in this country, but this hotel was one of the worst I have encountered in a long time.
I'll get back to the service in a few seconds, let me just add that the location is fine and that the interior is in desperate need of new colors and polishing. It is obviously from the 80s. Which brings me back to the service.
The staff did not know what to charge for the gym-card that gave me access to a members-only-gym a couple of blocks away. I offered to pay more, some more than the guesstimate they gave me, but to no avail. Either they charge me the right sum or they do not give me any ticket to charge. Obviously, they imagine that I think it was reasonable to waste five minutes of my time to make 2 dollars (which, eventually was the amount I would have lost, had I paid what I initially offered).
My trips are prepaid by my travel agent which is supposed to minimize the fuss when I check in and out. This hotel asked for my credit card, which they usually don't. I asked why the wanted it, since it was all prepaid. "In case you use the minibar", the notoriously unfocused man at the desk answered.
"I never use the minibar", I said. "The minibar is for drunk people. Or for very lazy people. I'm neither."
"I'm still going to need your credit card."
Considering that a small line was forming behind me (yes, it seems they were understaffed too), I decided not to make a fuss. I gave him my credit card and I said that when giving out my credit card, the risk of the staff forgetting that the room is prepaid increases, and that I did not want to have to waste my assistant's time with such an issue.
There would be no such issue, I was promised.
Two days later my credit card was charged with the entire room and the same thing happened to my two colleagues.
My assistant had to call the hotel, get the money back and, needlessly to say, I'd prefer not to stay here again.
Here at trip-advisor I have another review for the second Elite hotel in Malmö, the Savoy, and as you can see, it is not very favorable either. The Elite is well-known for its high standards and the hotel in Eskilstuna and in Jönköping are very nice. I'm suspecting that the head of Elite hotels in Malmö needs a reminder from his/her boss.

The hotel interior feels old and outdated! It is not one of the hotel with history but it feels nice and elegant with design. It just feels old and a bit unclean even. The shower and bathroom looks like it's from the 80s and the curtains look like it's been there since the hotel was built and no one has took it down for a wash. My room has a window facing the ally close to another building which makes the room really dark even in the morning. The breakfast is quite good. Service is great! Amazing location. It's just right across the street of Malmö train station and shopping streets, restaurants and bars.

A pleasant quiet hotel very convenient for railway and bus stations and close to city centre of Malmo. Hearty breakfast with all the usual scandinavina offerings. Well fitted bedroom. Helpful (and english speaking) reception staff.
