I went to this charming-enough hotel for two nights with my brother. It was the first time either of us visited Sweden and were told by friends and relatives that Malmo was a "must go" destination.
Hotels in my view should round-up the overall experience for the visitor when visiting a city. In my previous reviews, I think my ratings have been a little high so me rating three stars for this hotel may sound as if the hotel was bad.
I have to emphasis - it is a really nice hotel.
The hotel room we went to was a good size and beds were comfortable. The staff were very accomodating and thankfully, spoke very good English. The room we went to were clean and of a good standard. Our room was not en-suite meaning we had to share a shower and toilet with other guests - we have had some unpleasant experiences regarding this but Formule 1's cleanliness was top class, although at times, a little stuffy. Easy to open their windows but obviously, ours needed a little cleaning as it was covered with cobwebs...
In addition, about 30 minutes walk from the city shopping centre and just 500 metres from a fantastic shopping outlet which had cheap (well...) and designer clothes. The hotel also neighboured a McDonalds and petrol station. Taxi prices to the central train station ranged between 65-81 Swedish kroner (£6.65-£8.29). Do NOT go to Sweden on a low budget - Malmo was a very pricey city!
I felt this hotel, however suffered from two faults. First, rather insignificant - the breakfast. We had to pay 50 Swedish kroners (£5.11) for breakfast which was practically the same as what we would have had in other restaurants. I have no problem paying extra for the breakfast but when you are asked to pay for breakfast, you expect more - well, I did anyway.
The other problem was the hotel design. I did prior research before booking the hotel room and it was exactly how it was advertised - which I was fine with. However, as a Formula 1 enthusiast, I was expecting more of this theme. The name for me was the main attraction and the only thing Formula 1 about the place was the name and its logo.
All-in-all, a fine hotel which I recommend you all to book for a short stay, perhaps not a long one.
The hotel is a little bit far from the city centre (central station), so you have to take a bus to get the hotel. The staff was nice all the time. Regarding the facilities, the room I slept was a simple one, but comfortable with a big bed. In the floor I stayed there were three toilets (two with showers) and one of them smelled really bad. About the toilets with showers, both I had to be very fast otherwise they would be flooded, and in one of them there was no light.
The breakfast was simple but good. The hotel is a reasonable alternative for a short stay, however the toilets must to be improved.
