“Perfect location in small-town Karlskrona”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

We had bought a week-end package including two-course dinner and breakfast. All by Swedish standards at a very reasonable price.
On arrival our reservation was handled very fast and professionally. All in all staff seemed generally very Young, professional and efficient. Average-size room. Comfortable beds. But very inconvenient and Ikea-style furniture. Not much room to move around. Room probably perfect for one person. Functional bathroom. Scandic hotels are generally aiming at the business-traveller market and the conderence market. Not at the 'Family market'. Rush hour at the restaurant occured at the same time every morning at around 9, and staff had difficulties clearing tables fast enough.
Free parking at 100 m from hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room at sea-side.

A modern, clean and comfortable hotel in a great location; within walking distance of the main features of the town, but far enough away to be very quiet at night. The breakfast buffet is terrific, and you should give yourself enough time to enjoy it.
Best place in town for dinner was the atmospheric pub the "Fox and Anchor" up off the market square, takes about seven minutes to walk there from the hotel.
Be warned the taxi ride from the nearest airport at Ronneby was about 500 krona, so that was a shock.
Tour boats go from just adjacent to the hotel, but ask where they go and where you might be able to get off and look about; I just got whisked about the harbour and couldn't get off, but it was a still a pleasant two hours.

Room Tip: All the rooms have nice views.

My husband and I recently stayed at this property and had a really nice experience. Our first room had a problem with the lights so a staff member immediately came and switched us to another room on the same floor with the same lovely view of the water (she was very nice and helped us very quickly). Our room was a "Superior Extra" with nice comfy beds and great feeling bedding, free wifi, a private bathroom with a bathtub/shower combo (beware, the tub felt a little high and could be tricky to get out of for some), a room safe, a kettle with coffee/tea, bathrobes and body and shower products from the Face (a Stockholm brand) plus we also received a SEK 50 Superior Extra voucher to use in the hotel's restaurant or shop because we booked this room. My favorite things about this Scandic? Staff, clean room, great view and oh, so comfy a bed. The breakfast was also very good with many choices. This wasn't the most elegant room we have ever been in, but I enjoyed it much more than some pricier hotels!

Room Tip: higher floors, view of the water!

Perfect location with beautiful views. We only stayed 1 night but our family of 5 slept well in one room with the addition of 2 roll away beds (very cozy). The breakfast buffet that was included with the room and was the best we have ever had! Could not have asked for a better deal or service. We highly recommend staying here.

We were staying 3 nights at this hotel. The rooms are in modern scandinavian design with big panorama windows which are offering a fantastic view onto the fisketorget and the marina.
Rooms are fresh and clean. The staff at the reception had been really friendly and helpful. The personell at the restaurant could be more customer focused. Food was good, the breakfast buffet had a great variaty.
The restaurant has a really nice terrace with a roof top allowing guests sitting outside even when it is raining. There was also live music on the terrace on wednesday evening. We can warmly recommend this hotel!

I stayed at Scandic Karlskrona in July 2013 for two nights in a standard room.

The hotel is located on Fisktorget, by the water. This is very convenient if you plan to go on a trip to the archipelago, as most of the boats leave from there.

The hotel is recent and their design is typical of new scandic hotels: minimum furniture, modern design. This means lots of place to move around, but also unfortunately not much space to hang anything. There were not even hangers for trousers.
Bathroom was well appointed. Bed comfort was good, soft bed.

Breakfast selection was good, a big plus is the possibility to take it outside on the patio, waving off the small thieves flying around!

Service was rather disappointing: I had specified in the booking, called ahead, and asked again at check-in for a quiet room. The room I was given was the closest from the - busy - street. The clerk was rather useless, offering no help except suggesting to upgrade to superior room. She obviously did not want to handle any dissatisfaction from customers.
So I was treated to my own personal wake-up both morning at 6 am, courtesy of the local traffic.

Only a handful of standard rooms are far enough from the road, so if you are a light sleeper, upgrade to superior rooms.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, upgrade to superior rooms, they face the water and are quieter.

I haven't ever been in a hotel in Scandinavia which was located in such a beautiful place as this one was.
The room was spacious, clean, up-to-date and very Scandinavian style. Only a bit wierd thing was a shower wall, it did not work how it should have worked. After taking shower whole bathroom was wet anyway. Bed comfortable was pretty good, we slept well.
Breakfast was great as always in Scandics in Sweden: local foods and feedstocks, organic food, many cheeses, hams, sausages, vegetables, fruits... Whatever you like to eat... Ok, there is not cakes, Nutellas and other unhealthy food but this is even better. At summer time you are able to eat also outside at nice terrace next to sea.
Wifi was working well and was pretty fast.
If I ever went back to Karlskrona this hotel is my choice.
