..in the middle of bustling Gamla Stan, you'll find this beautiful church from the 16th century in a peaceful wrought iron fence enclosed quadrangle. Lovely stained glass windows, fabulous organ - find out if there is a concert during your stay in Stockholm or join the congregation on Sunday for services - so worth it !
Amazingly this church built by German merchants so long ago stil has a very strong membership of 2000 - fasinating history.

This is a fantastic old church in Gamla Stan(old town). Big feature when you look at Gamla Stan. Typical German style construction. The stain glass are just awesome. Beautiful gold gilding everywhere. To top all this entrance is free. The wrought iron around the chuch is also beautiful. All in all a highly recommended visit.

This church has 2000 members! And what a lovely place they worship in, founded in 1571 by German merchants and craftsmen who settled in the city with almost complete influence over Stockholm in the 18th c. It has a twin nave (an extension of an earlier smaller church), royal gallery and ebony and alabaster pulpit. There are some wonderful paintings and three exceptional modern stained glass windows. We only just managed to visit because it closes at 3pm, but the curator could not have been more helpful or more informative, Don't miss it!

The church itself is just a beautiful but not overwhelming object. But the stain glass windows are mind-boggling. One but - you must come on a sunny day! Only then you can appreciate the highest skill of the master to capture light and make the glass alive. The pictures themselves are very typical moralizing/sentimental postcard images popular in Germany of 20th century threshold, but they are outstandingly beautiful.
