I am just echoing what other reviewers have said. This is a really good hotel in great location (right near the intersection of Gamla Stan and the Ocean Side harbor, and very close to the subway stop). We stayed at the Story for a long weekend, it is was very clean and comfortable. Self check-in and check-out was great. There is a bar and restaurant in the ground floor that seemed popular.

The one negative was that there was no A/C in our rooms. That is probably not usually an issue in Sweden, but it was pretty warm during our stay.

I would recommend the Story.

The Tripadvisor reviews on this place were mixed, so we hesitated to book here at first, but did so in the end because of the great rate we got for a medium standard room. Based on some of the reviews that we read here, we were expecting very small rooms and "no amenities," as some reviewers said. But we were pleasantly surprised & ended up loving this place. Our room (the "medium standard") was spacious by European standards and very clean and nicely decorated in that "hip boutique hotel" style that's becoming more and more common these days (the rooms look exactly as they do in the photos). As for amenities, we didn't find them to be lacking in any of the areas that generally matter to us -- the wifi was free and worked well, there was always a front desk person present, even if the hotel doesn't literally have 'front desk" in the traditional sense (the staff are stationed next to a computer in the foyer), and the staff members we talked to were always friendly and helpful. They delivered on the 4:30a wake-up call that we asked for, called us a taxi, and even gave us a nice "to go" breakfast for our 5a trip to the airport. I don't think that they have room service or a stocked mini bar, but we don't ever use those services, so that didn't matter to us.

One surprising thing was that there was no phone line for outside calling, either local or international. We were able to use their wifi connection to make calls through Skype, so it was not a problem for us, but we were surprised that the phone didn't even have local calling. Finally, the hotel restaurant was excellent, and it seemed to be a popular place for locals (at least, it seemed to us that everyone around us was speaking Swedish). The bar was nice, too. The hotel is also very centrally located and is walking distance from the central train station. We've stayed in 3-4 different hotels in Stockholm during past visits here, and this is by far our favorite place, and we would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

Very good hotel on a quiet road but very close to a much buisier road and therefore tended to be noisy on a night time - so if you want an undisturbed nights sleep request a room thats not on the main road.
Staff were very helpful when they were there however we had to 'check' ourslves in when we first arrived (typing in emaill address and a code), recommended a brilliant veggie resturant - Hermans.
Good basic breakfast included in the price.
Would definately stay here again but would request a room away from the main road.

When I first booked The Story Hotel, I was quite concerned because of some of the comments in the Trip Advisor and also their lack of response when I emailed them with questions. When we arrived on a Saturday morning, the staff member at the entrance checked us in right before he got off duty and advised that his colleague would make us dinner reservations for that evening. Later in the afternoon, we met the young woman on duty and she was tremendous. She tried making us reservations at the restaurant we requested, and she made us back up reservations at another restaurant that she suggested. The first place we wanted (Matbaren) was full, so we went to the restaurant the young woman suggested and it was fantastic. She even made us dinner reservations for the following night at another restaurant. I thought the service in this hotel was wonderful. The room was on the small size but very nicely decorated, very clean and comfortable. If you carry a lot of luggage you may not want a standard room, but we carry a small amount of luggage therefore the room was fine. The location is terrific and very walkable. The breakfast was great. They served boiled eggs, sliced cheese, smoked salmon, cereals and yogurts, to name a just few items on the buffet.

I travelled with my 21 year old son and we both really liked the hotel The decor is modern and funky and the staff were terrifically helpful and friendly. This is not a traditional hotel, ie there is not lobby and may not appeal to some. Breakfast was delicious and had good variety. Definitely a place if you want something a little different. Well located near restaurants and shopping. It is expensive for a hotel that doesn't have ammenities, but we really enjoyed our stay.

Like many hip and trendy hotels, the Story struggles with the balancing act between cool and comfort. While the rooms are very hip yet cosy and clean, ours was so small that we only could open our bags on the bed. On top of that the noise of the hotel bar and the neighbouring restaurant made us sleep with earplugs. Not what you expect for 200 Euro/$300 a night. Complaints were welcomed with a 'we are to hip for you'-attitude. Fortunately, after complaining to 3 different people, the 4th girl finally was going to 'see what she could do...'. A smile or a 'sorry' would've been appreciated. After lunch we could move to a similar (small) room, but away from the noise...
We would say, only go there if you get a good rate or make sure you get a proper sized room on the top floor away from the noise.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and got stolen at my room a day before leaving. When I came back after my meeting someone entered my room and stole my Ipod and some of the cash I had on the table. It was not much cash to involve the police. I lost about €50 from €125. The staff was ignorant and just waved it as this is not there problem and that they had asked the staff and they was not responsible. Remember, this is a 4 star hotel in the middle of the high class Stockholm. And I payed € 480. The rooms was clean and the location was very central. But when you get stolen it is not worth it. So be careful and I do not recommend this hotel.
