Description: If you're curious to know what's been served at the Nobel Prize banquets down the years, then you should head for Stadshuskllaren ? a restaurant in the basement of Stockholm town hall, which hosts the annual ceremony. You can choose between any of the Nobel menus since 1901. Stockholm's town hall, with the three golden crowns on its tower, has become a national and international symbol for Stockholm and Sweden. It contains the exquisite banqueting halls, Gyllene Salen (the Golden Hall) and Bl Hallen (the Blue Hall). Restaurang Stadshuskllaren has seating in its own fine dining room as well as the so-called Eldqvarn room. There's also the Sknkrummet room for guests who prefer quieter surroundings. As well as the Nobel menus and the Swedish inspired main menu, the restaurant also serves party menus, a traditional Swedish Christmas buffet and a spectacular seafood buffet in the autumn.

So happy we went here!
Alla of us loved the food. The wine was excellent and the service phenomenal. This place really care about their guests!
We didn't try the Nobel menu but will return to do so, it sounds exciting.

“Excellent place for Julbord!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2011

This place offers the very traditional Swedish Julbord with fantastic atmosphere in the cellar of the City Hall. Especially the fish is fantastic in its various forms. Strongly recommend! The staff is also excellent.

“Charming place for a good dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2010

In Germany the "Ratkeller" is always a good place to go, if you want to eat local good food, never overpriced. I was not aware that the same applies also to Sweden :-)
In Stockholm this "Restaurant of the Town Hall", if I had to translate literally, offers you a good selection of Swedish and international dishes, and a good list of wine. The eating rooms are quite charming, if you like the elegant and a bit old-fashion kind of "ambient".
Desserts are worth more than a try!
The service is nothing special, but also nothing to complain about.
Do not forget to make the (external) tour of the very nice building, especially the part along the river, very nice view

“TOURIST TRAP”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2010

Went here with a party of 12 people late august 2010. Found out first that we were seated in an area outside the main historic area, different than advertised, and taken to another area without windows. We were one of the first guests, and at all empty tables, the water glasses were already filled and the bread buns were already present on all the tables. The waitress acted very surprised when I asked for some wine. The head waitress teriible attitude was only outdone by her loud voice. Very unfriendly to her staff, and overly forceful to our table. When one of the party askes for some more wine, this waitress put forward in a loud voie that this had not been prebooked, an that extra payment was needed. And she stood by the table to make sure that the wine bill was immediately paid.
The food consisted of a cold, sauceless piece of fish on a few lettuce leaves. The main was a tough piece of veal, which I ate after having made several sawing moves. Bland food, completely lacking in imagination. Bad, rude service, please tell me this was an unfortunate single experience!!!!!
