“Incredible location, great design - and the best. bed. ever.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2011

The hotel lies on an island in the middle of Stockholm and has a beautiful view over both the water as well as the city behind it. Whilst the city is a mere ten minute walk away, the island the hotel lies on is very green and peaceful.

The hotel itself is rather interesting featuring a lot of Scandinavian design and is very, very clean. The rooms themselves are ample, and honestly, have the best beds ever. We have even considered getting the same bed for at home...

Oh, and last but certainly not least, the hotel restaurant is very good - a lot of locals actually come here in the evening. Make sure you try the reindeer meatballs and the shrimp on toast thingys.

I am not an easy man to please when it comes to hotels but Skeppsholmen is really great.

The location - ten minutes walk from downtown Stockholm on a pretty isolated island - is absolutely fabulous.

The rooms are fairly big and with the smartest design I ever saw in a hotel.

The food is super.

All in all - don't miss this!

Hello. My name is SBC. I stayed for 3 nights in Room 136 in your hotel and would like to express my satisfaction with the room, the hospitality, and breakfast during my time spent. I am most grateful for having had the opportunity to enjoy and visit Stockholm while lodging in Skeppsholmen.

The hotel is situated in an excellent location on quiet Skepholmen island, but is still close enough to walk to attractions/restaurants. Our room was on the 3rd floor which gave you a fantastic view over the waterfront. The room was spotlessly clean and simply decorated with all the amenities you would expect of a good city hotel (Including free WiFi). Breakfast was good with a wide range of options and all well prepared. The service of the staff in the restaurant was generally poor but the service from the reception staff was very good. While in Stockholm we tried the restaurants Stufhof and B.A.R. The best was B.A.R and I would definitely go back. Also visit the Vassa museum before you leave.

Just back from a three night stay at this hotel from 27/02/2011 to 02/03/2011. We were there to celebrate my boyfriend's 40th birthday. We picked this hotel as liked the idea of the location being within walking distance of all the main museums and sights and being near the water. We were not disappointed!!

When we arrived at 1pm, before it was time to check in, we were told our room wasn't ready yet but were kindly given tickets to the museum of modern art by the friendly guy on reception. This was great as I had wanted to go there anyway and it is only in the next street. We also visited the architecture museum which was next to the modern art museum and also free till 31st March.

Our room was in the main building (170) in the attic and was very large with a sea view. It had a great bathroom with magic pebble sink, wet room style, great shower and the highlight was a massive deep bath. This was perfect to relax in when you have been outside walking in the cold all day. We found the room very clean, warm, modern and spacious and liked the design and lighting features. The free WiFi was a nice plus too.

We liked the restaurant area where you ate breakfast too. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice of breads, croissants, meats, cheese, eggs, salmon and cooked stuff etc.
We also ate in the hotel restaurant twice and really enjoyed our meals although found the menu a little limited. We found the price of food and drink in Stockholm very expensive all over be warned!!

We visited the Vasa museum which we found to be very interesting and spent a good 3 hours as lots to see. We went to the Fotografiska (photography museum across the water from the hotel) The views from this area(Sodermalm) were very impressive and worth the walk there through Gamla Stan.
We walked to Globen, where we went on the Sky View Globe. It allows you impressive views from the top of the globe but only if you don't suffer from vertigo.

We also enjoyed ice skating at Kungstradgarden which is very near hotel and we hired skates there too which were very cheap.

When we asked the reception to book us a taxi as we had an early check out at 6.15am they very kindly offered to arrange a packed lunch which was great and very welcome.

All in all we enjoyed our visit to Stockholm and especially to this hotel we would defiantly recommend it as very friendly staff and great location for visiting all of city and most can be done on foot.

Having read the reviews on trip advisor, i was concerned about several aspects of this hotel, service in particular. But our experience was extremely good. everyone we encountered, from the service desk, through to waiting staff were very good and by good I do not mean just tick the box in case you are being mystery checked. Ok there were a couple of niggles, but even my spouse who travels a lot on business had no complaints. We had a very relaxing break. Well done to this hotel and their hard working staff. We left during a period of extremely severe weather, which disrupted the taxi and transport system, but the young lady ensured that we made our connections.

Great location very near the center yet totally quiet, next to excellent museums with beautiful views either to the sea or to the park. The stuff is very nice, kind and helpful, always with a big smile. The breakfast is very smart, a choice of quality, local and international.
The aura of the old building is present, the modern amenities make it most comfortable to spend time in. The design is what it should be, not superimposing, yet there. I would definitely go back.
