“So relaxing, it doesn't need a spa.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2012

It's not often you find a hotel right in the center of a world city that feels like a spa in the middle of nature. This one does. Amazingly, it doesn't have a sauna or spa (just a tiny tiny fitness room). But the atmosphere, the historical/modern scandinavian design and the exceptional location makes this an amazing and totally relaxing place to stay.
One downside: the (historical) window shutters don't exactly block out the daylight.
Friendly and helpful staff. Food at the restaurant is good, so eat in once. We had only little time as we had a tickets to the opera, but they made sure we got our meals with plenty of time left.

Dear Guest,

Thank you so much for this lovely review!
We are very lucky to be on this island in the city centre and it is really like an urban oasis.
I hope your next visit will be during summer and then you can actually go swimming in front of the hotel and play tennis on our outdoor tennis court which is situated just by the sea and eat breakfast on our terrace.

I discovered this charming chic boutique hotel through a gay friendly accommodation site. The hotel is a delight, in the city but seemingly in the countryside, 10 minutes walk to the city centre.
The welcome was warm and reception staff efficient. The restructuring of an old set of buildings sensitive and most pleasing.
The room, a 'superior sea' although small and bijou was stylish and just what I was looking for. Plenty of towels, a robe, and good bed linen changed daily.
Breakfasts were excellent with a wide selection of Swedish foods and fabulous breads.
Car parking is in a ticket zone, beware they do patrol the parking and apply fines.
I reccommend the hotel, and will certainly stay again on my next trip to Stockholm.

Room Tip: 1st floor sea facing room

We stayed here for about a week as part of a training programme. The location is excellent. Walking distance to Gamla Stan as well as the shopping district. The ferry stop is right next to the hotel. The food is awesome too and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff were efficient and friendly. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed in a loft suite with bedroom, sitting room and shower room. Neat design, loft style ceilings and great views out of the two large windows across the narrow sea strip between this island and the next. It is very convenient to the centre of Stockholm being 20 minutes from the old town in one direction and 20 minutes from Hamsgatan the new town shopping district. the island is beautiful, we were lucky that there was a blanket of snow down when we were there.

The only niggles we had was the receptionist was generally unhelpful. We had hoped to get some advise on touristy things to do but she was too vague to be off any real assistance. We were in the second block and when we asked for ice she said she couldn't bring it up becuase she was on the desk alone. I suggested we collect it ourselves and she said she would try to get it up to us later. We went down for it ourselves. There was also a problem with the card key and the doors and again she was indifferent to the fact that we had been stuck trying to get out or into the building. On the last day, it was a different receptionist and she seems a lot more proactive in helping with things.

There is no real bar, it is just a seating area in the restaurant.

The restaurant food was really good. We had the al a carte on one night and the Xmas buffet on the second night. The restautant attracts a lot of locals. Breakfast was also excellent. Who knew seven different syles of pickled herring could taste so good! They also had great steaks. Service, however, was not exceptional had to make several attempts to get attention.

I would go back but suggest they up the game on the reception desk.

Decided to look for something different for my latest trip to Stockholm and booked this hotel. Location is interesting...almost rural in a lot of ways. Located 20 minutes walk from Gamla Stan and right on the waterfront.

My room was fine - typical of Stockholm hotels. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Food was excellent...no complaints.

Overall, the hotel is good value and provides an interesting option for central Stockholm.

We stayed here for a long weekend in September.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Having been to Stockholm a number of times before, it was a nice change to be in a more peaceful location. We had a superior sea view room which had a lovely outlook over the gardens and over onto the water. The room itself was on the small side but well designed (I loved the wardrobe, would love to know who designed it!) and the bathroom fittings were very good quality (although water went everywhere during a shower so more floor towels would have been great).

We were a little disappointed by the service. Our check in representative did not smile once during check-in and didn't offer any additional information about the hotel. We also found breakfast a little disorganised. It wasn't clear whether you should seat yourself, wait for coffee orders, help yourself, etc. The staff was slow on clearing tables as well; on one occasion we noticed some guests having to clear space themselves on a particularly busy morning - in a hotel of this otherwise good standard, this wasn't ideal.

One other negative comment was the lack of knowledge as to what room service is available. There was a menu in our room but apparently that was not on offer any more so we had to go to tbe main hotel to choose food from a far more limited selection. We had arrived late due to flight delays so again, we didn't enjoy this so much,

Overall, we had a good and reaxing stay and we would probably return.

Dear Guest,

Glad to read you enjoyed our location, the view from the room and our chic Scandinavian interior design. Our interior designers are Claesson Koivisto Rune and most of the furniture and lamps are also designed by them and so are the closet called Vass.

I am really concerned regarding the service with a smile we failed to give you and be assure I will speak to my team about this.
We are very lucky to have a very high occupancy all year around and I am sorry to read you felt that it was to busy at our popular complimentary breakfast, we will certainly look in to that.

Best and I hope I will have the pleasure to welcome you back soon again to our Eco Labeled hotel.

We have stayed in four hotels in Stockholm, all very nice. But now that we have found Hotel Skeppsholmen, we will always stay here. We love the area with the semi-woods and water. The ferry stop is almost outside the door so it is easy to get to Djurgården and Gamla Stan. It is a nice walk to the centre, over the bridge. Our room was spacious and immaculate. The toiletries are first rate, and so is the bathroom. You receive a warm welcome, including a package of delicious caramel candy. The elevator is a gem. The breakfast superb. You can easily exit the hotel without going through the lobby using your door key. Really, a stone's throw away are the Modern Museum and the Architectural Museum. Cafe Blom in the latter serves a very good soup and sandwich lunch at a very reasonable price. Of course, for upmarket dining, the hotel's restaurant is super. We were here in winter, which is a nice time to visit as there are many fewer tourists. Still, we look forward to coming here in the summer so we can enjoy the terrace. Mycket bra, Hotel Skeppsholmen.

We are very happy to be on this amazing island in the city centre.

I and my team hope to welcome you back during summer and then you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner on our terrace and if you play tennis you can try our out door tennis court which is situated next to the water and is the first out door tennis court in Sweden, it was built by King Oscar II 1882.
