“Great value hotel in a great location.”
Reviewed 16 July 2010

We booked this hotel after reading so many positive comments about it, and at the price we were very happy with it. We had actually booked two nights at this hotel, a thursday and then returned on the saturday, and we discovered that there can be differences in the room you get. On Thursday because the hotel was reasonably quiet, we were given a room on the fourth floor which was reasonably large and had an extra bed in it. It also had an Iron and ironing board in the wardrobe. I wanted the access code for the internet (there is free wifi throughout the hotel) and when I rang down to the reception I was given this over the phone. On Saturday when we returned to the hotel we were given a room on the sixth floor which was smaller and had no iron or ironing board. When I contacted reception I was told that there were no irons on the sixth floor and that we would have to use the one in the basement. I was also told that I would have to go down to reception to get the internet code as she couldn't give it to me over the phone. However, these slight irritations were the only problem I had with this hotel and it would appear that on the Thursday we had been "upgraded" to a family room. Quite why they think that a family room is more deserving of an iron and ironing board than a standard twin is beyond me, but everything eles about this hotel is great for the price. The showers were powerful and roomy, the breakfast was very good and the complimentary evening buffet was an excellent bonus considering how expensive it is to eat in Stockholm. A word of advice here, get to the buffet early rather than later as they seem to run out of some things. The hotel is conveniently located in the Ostermalm district about ten minutes walk from the Stadion tube stop and is within walking distance of most of Stockholms main areas ( if you don't mind a bit of a walk) On the weekend we were there it would have been nice to have air conditioning in the rooms as it was very hot, but there were windows which opened. Stockholm itself is a beautiful city and well worth a visit, and this hotel is an excellent base from which to see it.

We decided to stay at the Clarion Collection Tapto having read good reviews on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed.

We had been looking for a hotel for a while in Stockholm and everything seemed so expensive, so we were delighted to find that a room at the Clarion was the same rate as other hotels but also included breakfast, dinner and afternoon tea! The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choice and the evening buffet was good too (nothing super special but perfectly adequate). We only went to the afternoon tea once because we were too busy sight-seeing to go back to the hotel, but you could bascially help yourself to tea, coffee and cake from 3-4pm. The cake was delicious. Stockholm is very expensive so it's fantastic to have the meals included in the price.

The room was really big and the bed was very comfortable with a lovely big bathroom. The hotel is probably mostly for buisness people but we had an excellent stay there. It's very quiet and spacious.

My husband and I walked everywhere so I don't know how far it is to a metro or bus stop, but it took us about 30mins to walk to the old town which is beautiful.

I highly recommend the Vasa Museum where you can see the most incredible ship that sank on its maiden voyage and was salvaged. It's incredible!

The rooms are clean but without some facilities (no minibar, few wall sockets) and there is no way to avoid the external light to get into the rooms. Anyway, there is a free wifi internet connection available and a free dinner buffet.
The location is near the metro station, and about 20 minutes walking to downtown.
The staff is friendly but the receptionists change every day, so that they lose some information.
I was there for business and I had to print an email (4 pages): they asked me to pay more than 1 euro to print it. It never happened to me such a request.

The room was very clean (compared to Choice Hotels branded facilities in the US). It has a free dinner buffet and a free breakfast buffet. The food is actually good. Not your standard highway-side motel's continental breakfast on styrofoam plates. The dinner buffet had an excellent salad bar, a couple of warm entries, hot soup, and dessert. The breakfast had a wide variety to choose from as well, allowing you to eat healthy, or indulge. The free food is worth keeping in mind when you compare because restuarants here are relatively expensive. Free Wifi (get access code in person at the front desk). And I liked the shower - you could set the water temperature once and then just use the shower knob to turn it on or off unlike most showers where you have to adjust the temperature each time you turn it on. The front desk staff spoke English. Theres a grocery store right next to the hotel, which is convenient. Metro station is very close too: Stadion on red line (two stops from T-Centrallen, if you wish to connect to the Arlanda Express).

The room itself was very basic. Small, with fairly low end furniture. Worse than a cheap US motel room in most respects except that it was clean and did not smell. And the sheets did not smell of cheap detergent either. The iron/ironing board is shared with all rooms (which is probbaly the standard practice in Europe but was not clear from the website). Just one towel and one pillow per person.

We stayed nine nights at this hotel and were quite pleased with everything about the place. We were there to attend to family business and the location and amenities were just what we needed at a very good price. The evening buffet included bread, soup, salad bar, a hot entrée, and dessert. The selections changed every evening and there was something for everyone. The breakfast was excellent. One of the reasons we choose the hotel was the included meals and in addition to being good, it was very convenient to have the meals provided. Don't be put off by comments that this hotel is out of the way because Stockholm is not as large as other major cities. The bus stop is steps away as is a subway station. The room was clean and provided everything we needed. Afternoon tea was a pleasant bonus. We would definitely stay there again or at one of the other Clarion hotels in Stockholm.

We stayed at the Clarion Tapto for 4 nights. They gave us a family room with one extra bed and one baby cot. It was much bigger than I imagined. More than enough space for our family of 4 and safe enough for our baby to crawl around in. The breakfast and dinner buffet is included in the hotel price and was also very good and saved us money. There is a little play area in the restaurant as well. The location is good and we walked everywhere for sightseeing. The old town is bit further away but still within a walkable distance from this area.
