“Bad Quality Hotel”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 December 2013

If you are not going to an event at Globen, there is no reason to stay here.

The entrance is so unnoticable, they had to paint the whole wall light blue and write "Entrance" in white letters as large as a person. And even then you are still wondering if this could be the entrance to a hotel. Going through the door and into the hotel, you stop and turn again because the cafe inside, where cases of empty bottles are stacked upon each other and trays of cans are sitting on the tables, ensures you that this is not the entrance. So you get a bit angry at the taxi driver that took you to the wrong place. Until your curiosity takes you a step further and you discover the reception around the corner.

The clerk at the desk is effective and polite, so check-in goes swift. The elevator takes you surprisingly fast to the 8th floor, where you enter an extremely long hall, doors on both sides, carpet smothered with building dust. Then you open the door and enter what seems like a cabin on an old, large boat. A box of a TV, from the looks of it from the mid eighties, from the name I'd guess it's from Poalnd, sits in the middle of the rather large room, also with a characteristic eighties feeling over it. The bathroom has a bath tub with a monstrous sliding door from edge to roof on it, and the shower itself and the wall mounted plastic soap dispensers enhances the eighties ferry feeling.

I actually had a good nigh of sleep - until the traffic started at 6 and I had to close the window. Which helped until the construction work outside started at 7.
Breakfast area is nice enough, but why have let us choose between 15 minute or 2 minute eggs when you may cook them for 6?

Oh - and I almost forgot to mention: Unless you are going to an event in the Globe, you are in the middle of f...ing nowhere. There is nothing going on around the hotel, you will need to get in a cab to experience even the slightest bit of Stockholm.

Reception, check-in and check-out - extremely quick, even for large groups, high level service, always positive responses to all kinds of requests, including really stupid ones.
Bar - very nice, good choice and ok prices. But closes at 11 pm, sadly.
Rooms are rather old, all carpets are in stains. In some rooms heating is poorly regulated and in other conditioning is extremely loud. But everyday high quality cleaning could possibly compensate for this.
Breakfasts - ok, very standard, no surprises, quite a variety of everything, even if you stay for 3 weeks (like i did).
Lunches - good ones, quite a variety, often typical Swedish food (with moose etc.).
Coffee is horrible, but desserts could compensate for it, probably.
Absolutely excellent conference services.
Tiny sports room. They also have a sauna and a jaсuzzi, but those are very public and quite many people want to use it.
Ironing on every floor, so no need to trouble servicemen. And laundry on one of the floors.
Internet "tickets" for 24 hours of Internet.
3 minutes to subway. Good shopping mall and supermarket 1 minute walk, opposite to the hotel.
And of course! awesome view from the restaurant on the inside of Globen. Excellent when they have some event there.
Generally, very good, excellent service but definitely need some renovation in the rooms.

Room Tip: One side window view is on the Globen, and the other is on Arena. The second one all have balconies...

The only reason to stay here is that it is close to the Globe Arena and the other areanas in the area. The reception is two stairs below ground if you come by foot from the subway. The room was worn and old fashioned (thick TV, phone in the bathroom and other clear sign of the 80's) The water pressure and temperature of water in the shower was not good. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. The staff was very friendly and efficient though.

Room Tip: The breakfast room is on floor 7 so if you get a room on that floor it is convenient

Very convenient location if you go to the Globen arena. Easy to get there by public transportation.

Free Wifi, good service, and no luxories. Breakfast was included in the service, not super; a good option if I need to come back to the Globen for an event.

There is a nice hotel, especially if you are going to some event at the arenas in the complex. It's very close of 2 subway station, what is very helpfull to walk around Stockholm. Right in front of the hotel there is a mall with a supermarket.

The room is not quite big, but enough for a few nights. In my bathroom there is no anti slip mat in the bath, what I think is very dangerous.

The breakfast is not excepional but good, and there is a part of the restaurant from where you can see the interior of the arena.

The hotel staff are friendly.

Just a point of attention is that the hotel area was under construction because of a new arena, what makes the arrival a little bit confusing.

This hotel lives up to its name, it really is a quality hotel. The room are very spacious, the beds are really good and there's a big variety of foods to choose from during breakfast. Located in a quiet neighbourhood just south from Södermalm it only takes about 10 minutes with the metro to the centre.

Having read some of the other reviews here on Tripadvisor, I'm not quite sure we all stayed at the same hotel. We were lucky, perhaps, as we were offered a room contemporary designed, clean and definitely at a value-for-money price. (Perhaps it was too 'modern'; the bathroom area was separated from the rest of the living room-like space and bed by glass windows, something which might not go down well with every guest couple as there's only a a thin curtain to cover the activities taking place in the bathroom, so to speak...). There was a busy highway going past the area of the building in which we stayed, but it didn't affect our sleep. The humming sound from the air conditioner was probably more of a nuisance than the highway was.

The breakfast was all right though I would've wanted some whipped cream to go with the pancakes but there was none. It was pretty interesting to have breakfast looking out over the arena floor.

All in all, we'd probably consider coming back in the future. It was affordable and very close to the venue we had tickets to that evening.

Room Tip: Some reviews here state that there are rooms of unacceptably poor quality. We stayed on the fifth fl...
