“Average hotel but right by Stockholm Globen & Sky View”
Reviewed 27 July 2010

I recently stayed here for 4 nights with work and found the hotel a little tired. Reception is bright & cheerful as are the girls who run reception. There is a freezer by reception which has free ice pops for kids otherwise 10 SEK. I was on 5th floor in the older section of the hotel, the room is of average size split level with a settee and poof & tv on the level by the door & bathroom with the bed on the other level. The pillows on the bed were very small & not very comfortable. There are 4 blinds on the windows which slide in place to black out the light. The bathroom has a tub - hurray !!! but otherwise it is a bit small with not much ventilation as the steam takes a while to clear from the mirrors. Some of my colleagues has rooms on the half floor and had small saunas in their bathroom.
The breakfast was on floor 7 each morning from 7 -10.30 It was pretty good Large selection of items both warm ( not hot) and cold. Really good breads and fruit platters..

Overall the hotel was average, the food in the restaurant bar downstairs was okay, it is a very limited menu so it is well cooked but pricey for what is was. The Globen shopping centre is next door and has a large supermarket 2 levels down & there is a few restaurants /cafes there too but most close at 7.00 McDonalds opens until 9

Liked what I saw of Stockholm but it seemed very expensive. The Globen metro stop is only a few minutes away from the hotel & it is 5 stops from the old town.

Beware if you plan to buy duty free alcohol at the airport if you are flying back to an EU country, it is not allowed .....Swedish law apparently , most annoying. You can still buy cigarettes though.

The Quality Globe Hotel is located in the outskirts of Stockholm (close to the Globe Shopping Mall). Public transport/ the tunnelbanen is just around the corner and it takes 5 or 6 stops only to the city. We have been able to take advantage of a weekend package price which was reasonable. The rooms are nice and clean, the breakfast offered a variety of tasty food and the service was very friendly. I could recommend this hotel to families as well as for business occasions.

The hotel is in a great spot with fair rates and fairly well kept facilities. However, I had a huge issue with housekeeping. I spilled coke on my sheets so I expected new ones and got the same ones. After finally getting new sheets and using them, the next morning the room got cleaned but the bed wasn't made. Oh and the fact that some one puked on the hallway and never got cleaned up just made my day.

We stayed 1 night at the Quality Hotel Globe in Stockholm. The rooms was nice and clean with a good view over the globe. Our two year old boy loved the ice cream-machine with free ice cream on the second floor :) The breakfastroom was really crowded around 9 o´clock, but the breakfast itself was really nice. This hotel offers free internet at some internet ponits in the lobby. Too bad the poolarea was closed for renovation :(

Stayed for 3 nights (Fri-Mo) with husband and two children. We travelled with another family, also consisting of two adults and two children..
The price was OK. We paid SEK 2.400 (approx. £ 180) but still the hotel left a lot to be asked for.
Firstly, upon check-in everything seemed vey promisinig. The staff at the reception desk were very friendly and efficient. The hotel lobby was modern, spacious and full och families just like us. Children everywhere. Free ice cream for kids etc.
After a while it's obvious that this is more of a business hotel and that, during the summer, they lower the standars and try their best to squeeze in as many people as possible to make as much money as possble.
The elevators were barely functioning. Several were out of order, and I think only two (out of 6) were actually working. Sometimes it took so long for the elevator to arrive that up to 20-30 people had gathered outside. A 10 minute wait was common, and sometimes when the elevator arrived it malfunctioned and didn't leave. People gave up and started using the stairs, which meant that we had to carry a puschchair 8 floors to get to our room.

Our room was a double room with a sofa bed. The only windows were place right below the celing, and couldn't be opened - when we arrived in the eveing the te,perature was 28, 4 degrees Celsius. And when we went to bed it reaches 30 degrees. There was a fan, but as there was no fresh air.
We asked for antoher room with windows that could be opened, and were peomised one for the next day.
Upon check in we asked to be pu on the same floor as the other family we were travelling with. That faily would arrive on the Saturday - one day after us. We were promised that they too would get a room on the 8th floor.
Next day (Saturday) we were moved to another room, with windows. When we asked the reception desk about the other family, and what room they'd be in - we were told that they'd be on a floor below us. When we told the receptionist that we'd been promised that they'd be on our floor, the receptionist said that she would arrange that.
In the afternoon, we phoned the hotel to make sure the other family was put on ur floor - and again the assured us that the definitely would be the case.
When getting back to the hotel around 4 in the afternoon - together with the other family - we were told that they were put on the floor below us. THREE times we were promised that they would be on our floor - and still they were put on the floor below. And nobody even apologized about it.

Breakfast was ok. The first morning the breakfast restaurant was crammed with people, and it was awfully hot. A good variety of bread, cereals, coffee etc.

The whole hotel was very hot and I heard many people complain about it. Also, the receptionists asked for payment in advance. Normally you pay upon check out - but now they wanted the money upon check in. Was that becasue they knew that the rooms were unacceptably hot? And that the elevators weren't working etc.?

The rooms were clean, but despite the recent refurbishment they felt a bit worn and torn. Bathroom was typical Swedish hotel standard. Tiles, bathtub etc.

All in all the stay was ok, mainly beacuse the children liked it. It os still unacceptable with 30 degrees in a room, and it's just disrespectful to promise things (e.g. the rooms on same floor) and then ignore it.

Parking facilities are poor. There are 10 parking spots outside the hotel and they cost 100 SEK/day - we had to park in the garage and that was 180 SEK/day.

I travel a lot, and I'd say this is an average 3 star hotel. Maybe itäs better if you stay here during the spring or autumn when they focus on quality rather than quantity?

The hotel is best, when visiting Stockholm for a show at the Globe or for business located nearby. It is very far from city center and almost “in the middle of nowhere”. A taxi to the city center is approximately 200-300 SEK. If your taxi driver looses his way it may get significantly more expensive. A metro stop is about 10 minute walk away from the hotel entrance. A small shopping mall is nearby. One may also get a carry-our bottle or water, coke (28 SEK for a 0,5 l bottle) or bier in the hotel restaurant. After the restaurant closes, there is no way of getting anything to eat or drink at this hotel. A 24h gas station is in long walking distance.
Getting anywhere requires walking over many steps, which may be a problem for disabled persons. The elevator in the front of the hotel is not always working.
There is a step in the room between the sleeping and living area. I tripped over this step several times, especially, when going to the bathroom during the night. Beds are comfortable and the room size is acceptable. There is lack of fresh air in the room. A/C is not working and the window opens only few centimeters. The rooms have a low-cost finish, less that one would expect from a 4*, or even a 3* hotel. There are no sanitary articles in the bathroom, other than a big, wall-attached bottle of soap. There is no safe in the room. No minibar, just a small refrigerator. There are multiple lamps in the room.
WiFi is free and works fine. A 24hour voucher may be obtained at the front-desk. The front desk staff is kind and helpful.
The breakfast room is huge, noisy and full of children. Coffee is strong, but low quality. Other than that, the breakfast s OK. The hotel restaurant looks nice. I did not eat there.

I stay here most months. The hotel is near my company's office in Stockholm.

This is a big business style hotel attached to an enormous ice hockey arena. The location is away from the centre of Stockholm so the only reason to stay here is if you want to be in this area or you get an great price deal.

Plus side

- rooms are comfortable and quiet. Interesting design. The newer rooms are beautiful - glass walled bathroom, plusher soft furnishings. Definitely worth specifying.
- staff are friendly
- free breakfast (organic)

Negative

- Some of the public area are bashed about
- Location is not convenient for touring Stockholm. There is nothing in the immediate area in the evenings
