“At least the reception is nice...”
Reviewed 2 September 2011

Location: great, within a few steps from the central station and good shopping areas
Reception: friendly and competent. Hardware very tasteful with birds twittering and modern furniture.
Room: we had room 930, highest floor, view to the inside court. This room is next to the door, so it's slamming the whole time whenever someone comes in or goes out. On top, the room is about 3 meters away from the SKY BAR, open until 0200 hrs .... To make it all perfect, you hear every movement of the elevators, since the engine is stopping and starting constantly. Almost forgot to mention that the rooms are old, ugly, but ... free wifi and good beds (that cannot come together...).
Even though we got a deal, 180 euros was such a bad price-quality deal. I know other Radisson Blu hotels and this one must be the worst ...

Room Tip: Do not accept 930 !!

This Royal Viking Radisson is royal only in the lobby and in the floor of the conferences. The remainder needs a large renovation, and indeed works are ongoing. Since there is another Radisson just in front of this and it's new and perfectly coherent with the high quality of Radisson brand.... go there and not in this one. Furthermore, this Viking is also very very expensive, expect a price of a full five stars hotel, and this is (better I'd say was) a four stars only. No safety box in the rooms, small beds and old mattresses, no lcd tv's at least in not renovated rooms. Pool very small

Not a five star hotel as it claims, maybe a two. First room was dark and dingy - had a moldy toilet and molds on the ceiling. Second room was dark and a broken hair dryer. This hotel is in desperate need of a major renovation. The only positive was the location.

In general this hotel is a good option for business trips to Stockholm - it is centrally located 5 minutes walk from the Central train station.

The accommodation was reasonable - there were a couple of minor issues. the room I stayed in was dated and only had a single power point near the workdesk. In addition, the WiFi based broadband access was not reliable. This seemed to be a general problem throughout the hotel and not just in the room.

The food was reasonable value for money when compared to the local Stockholm market

I found the staff very friendly and helpful - with one exception - checkout took ten minutes and was painful due to a slow computer system. I was just hadned my bill and not given a chance to review which was annoying. There were no issues with the bill but I would have expected an opportunity to review.

This is a great hotel if you are walking and taking the train everywhere. The rooms are nice and modern and of course very bright with the night sun in late June. You can walk everywhere so this hotel is tops if you are looking for a great location. When you stay here I don’t think you’re sitting in the room so I can’t really rave that much about the room or the lobby or the food or the fitness center. I can’t recall if they had a fitness center. But, I really liked the hardwood floors and the cool furniture.

Stayed in this hotel on business and decided to return with the family for a long weekend break. For business its ideal with Central Railway Station (and Arlanda Express to airport) next door, Taxi rank next to hotel, and plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
For family long weekend break, hotel was OK, just got off Arlanda express and it was walking distance to hotel. Slightly further away to tourist attractions than other hotels, but still walkable. Would probably choose to stay at the Radisson Blu Strand if staying with the family for a weekend break, as this is nearer to all the tourist attractions.
Free WiFi, breakfast was included in my rate, nice bar with good choice of drinks - although expensive, small swimming pool - but heating wasn't working when we went so it was freezing!

Room Tip: Book early for a cheaper rate

The hotel is in a good location right next to the central station and the airport express train. Main shopping areas and old town are all within walking distance. You enter the beautiful lobby which is in a modern and contemporary design.

The downturn came when i entered my room (5th floor). Dark red carpets and wooden interior which must date back to the seventies. Bathroom old fashioned also, AC noisy and no ironing board. The free wifi had low signal strength and dropped out from time to time.

Breakfast is of the usual good Scandinavian quality but was served in what seemed a huge conference lobby which was really unpersonal.

Overall the hotel is not bad but for the price they charge (around 300 USD night) i expect more. If you want to stay centrally and at a Radisson property then go across the street to the brand new Radisson Waterfront.
