Our good friends in Stockholm told us to stay here--and the reviews we read were good. We had a Superior King Room on the 2nd floor that had been recently renovated and had a spectacular view of the harbor and Royal Palace with a large balcony. What I liked most was the easy friendly feeling of the young staff, the wonderful concierge Olow, the drop dead gorgeous spa and the great food and drink in the Veranda and Cadier Bar. The location of the hotel is spectacular and we were able to walk to everything. We were very glad that we stayed at the Grand Hotel.

Room Tip: The view of the Royal Palace was spectacular--go for the view rooms!

This was our first trip to Stockholm. My wife and I stayed at the Grand for four nights prior to a Baltic Cruise. We travel a lot and believe that staying in a very nice hotel is a major part of the travel experience. The Grand Hotel didn't disappoint. As others have said it is in a wonderful location. The public rooms are attractive and we enjoyed afternoon drinks in the Bar. We had breakfast and room service dinner. All of the food was of high quality and well prepared. All of the hotel personnel we encountered were polite, knowledgeable, prompt and a real pleasure to deal with. We had booked one of the nicer rooms with a water view, but we were totally surprised by an upgrade when they took us to the top floor and put us in the Nobel Suite. It's a beautiful suite with outstanding views of the harbor. It even has a full size sauna in the bathroom. We will definitely stay here if we visit Stockholm again.

Having stayed several times at the Grand we wanted to book a room for the weekend of 15th of September. We made a reservation online early september for one of their online weekend offers. About a week later my boyfriend could not remember having seen a confirmation of the booking so he called the hotel to check if everything was fine. They could not find the reservation in the system. We assumed we were to blame, so we made a new booking - also online. Having arrived in Stockholm the 14th we are at the airport waiting for the airport express train to arrive, and then we discover that we have (again) not recieved a booking confirmation. My boyfriend calls (again) to Grand to check if everything is OK. The receptionist can (again) not find us in the system and after a bit back and forth he finds that luckily they have available rooms. However, the offer we get is far from grand: We are welcome to book a room, but it will cost us SEK 1000 more a night. So pretty far from the "weekend offer". When commenting that there is probably something wrong with the booking system we get told that probably the fault is our. Well, we travel once a week either together or separate on average and we always book online: So to cut a long story short we said "thanks, but no thanks" as it seemed rather unreasonable to pay up for something that clearly needs to be looked into by the Grand IT department. A good tip for Grand Hotel could be to check with Nobis Hotel and get a brief on their well functioning online booking system works: We booked a room with Nobis online, on a blackberry, whilst on the airport express train and checked in 15 minutes later.

The view across the water to the Royal Palace is incredible. Although our room didn't have the view, our table at breakfast did. The Stockholm Half Marathon started and finished a block from the hotel, which allowed me to run the race, meet my wife, shower up, and then walk only two blocks to Nybrokajen to grab a boat cruise for dinner. Our room was on the second floor which the staff said had been recently renovated - spacious and nice bathroom including a speaker from the television. Staff is top notch.

Solid building, well maintained. We were upgraded from a deluxe room overlooking the harbor to a suite in the "new building" which connects by an interior passageway. Were delighted. Everyone is lovely, room service breakfast arrived on time to the minute 4 times in a row. Wonderful hotsl.

Someone else used this same title and it is very apporpriate. This hotel came very highly recommended and we booked post cruise through the Platnium Fine Hotels and Resorts. We were suppose to recieve an upgrade if available from the superior room we had booked. Supposedly, we were upgraded to a premiere room. I had also requested a view. Our view was of the lower roof and other people's windows. The room did have a sitting area, which was fortunate since we had 3 large bags from the cruise and the room only had THREE very small drawers in the closet under the safe and limited hanging space. NO storage of any type in the room itself.
Of course we were told there were no other rooms available.
The bedspread and furniture were old heavy velvet and dusty looking. The small bathroom had no storage and actually had less than the bath on the Silver Whisper! We do not mind paying for a wonderful room with a view, but this was absurd. We were tripping over l;uggage that had to be put against the walls and constantly living from our suitcases. Also, the AC wasn't working and in desperation I just asked for a fan. Where's the Five star in that?

We have stayed in numerous Fine Hotels and Resorts through Amex and have never had this experience. Also, we were not told and had to ask about our breakfast that was supposed to be included. They did give us a certificate for the smogersboard for two, but we choose the gourmet restarant and another instead.

I have looked at their website and the professional photos on trip advisor and none looked like our room. I will attach what it actually looked like.

This hotel did have an elegant bar and the common spaces were nice, but our room was a real disappointment.

The hotel is very well located as almost everything is at a walking distance from the Hotel.
It has a great view, the rooms are spacious. The hotel team is very kind and nice.
The breakfast restaurant has a great view on the Royal Palace and served fresh good food (including real orange juice)!
For the little story, we were staying at the same time than Pearl Jam...
