“Terrific hotel, with delicious smogasbord”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

We spent one night here after disembarking from our cruise ship in Stockholm. Wonderful location and excellent front desk staff and bellhops. (One of the bellhops is Justin Timberlake's lookalike.) The smorgasbord lunch buffet and breakfast were delicious and plentiful. Our room wasn't as nice or as well appointed as the room we had at the Hotel D'Angleterre in Copenhagen, but it was a good room nonetheless, and a bit of a walk from the front desk. The mattress was too soft for my taste; my wife, however, found it perfectly acceptable. We stayed in a wing of the hotel that has its own elevator. I am not sure how our room compares with a similar room in the other wing of the hotel. Many of Stockholm's principal attractions (Vasa Museum, shopping street, old town) are within easy walking distance. I wish we had stayed here another night, as many of the stores were closed for the weekend for the midsummer holiday.

I figured that I might only be in picturesque Stockholm on this one occasion, so decided to go all out and splurge on the Grand Hotel. Of course, you pay for the quality of the rooms, but just as much for the location, and the latter certainly can't be beat, so it will stay in the memory long after the credit card has been paid off (!) Our 4-night stay was at the end of a Baltic cruise. I had booked directly (very efficient email service) with the hotel way ahead to be sure of getting a view overlooking the water towards the Royal Palace, and the view did not disappoint; in addition, I snagged a "stay for 4 nights, pay for 3 deal." The room (436), a premium harbour-view double, was well above street level (the hotel has 6 floors), and so afforded a great view towards the Palace and Gamla Stan (Old Town). It was very spacious and well appointed, with a very large bathroom; it did not have a coffee/tea machine, although that is not particularly important to me. The buffet breakfast (included in the rate) was excellent; there was just about anything and everything you could wish for. The hotel was very busy, particularly noticeable at breakfast, but we never had a problem in finding a table in the beautifully appointed suite of breakfast rooms. The staff in attendance were always very attentive and pleasant, as were all the hotel staff with whom we came in contact. Our stay at the Grand made a memorable conclusion to our cruise.

Room Tip: If your budget allows, ask about a harbor-view room on a higher floor.

The Grand is the address in Stockholm. Mick and Stones were during our recent visit. We didn't see them, but our friend had a "hello" and a smile from Mr. Jagger.

On the water. Great service. Wonderful spa, not large, but nice. Very good attention to detail in the rooms. The finishing is nice and the windows come with power external awnings as a nice touch.

The bar is a classic hotel bar as it should be in the movies. Classic hotel prices too for all things. C'est la vie. Company trip. (Stay at the Scandic Anglais and come here for a drink if it is on your own pocket.)

One note if you do book. If you have mobility issues, make sure the hotel doesn't put you in one of the further rooms. The Grand is quite expansive and some of the rooms are a long way from reception and the bar / restaurant.

Close to everything you need or want.

Service impeccable.

Room Tip: Don't get sent too far away from reception if mobility is an issue at all.

A Classic hotel with international standard and charm. The staff has confidence in their skills and spending an afternoon in the bar eating the great Wallenbergare is a truly delight not to be found in anyehere else.

Excellent location, very good hotel, try not to miss the SPA if you can. Very nice breakfast and good food at the lobby bar. All the staff are very professional and speak good English. It is of course big hotels with lots of room so if you prefer a boutique hotel this is not your type but other than that it is really perfect in all terms.

I am back on the road after a long and well deserved rest.....my first stop was a top-notch hotel located in the heart of Stockholm. It was convenient to everything....shops, museums and restaurants. The staff was attentive and the rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. It was a short stay, but everyone made it a delight. I would recommend this hotel highly when staying in this beauitful city....

We stayed in the hotel in June after a cruise. Through the cruise line we booked a deluxeroom overlooking the water. Great location for tourists. The room was very well appointed except for lack of nespresso machine. Unfortunately the room was next door to the function rooms and with doof doof music playing until 12.30 we got little sleep. Next night we transferred to an inner room, although no refund on the very expensive tariff apart from waving the cost of a light meal. We stayed on a week night and it is apparently even worse on week-ends. Avoid the front rooms and leave looking at the scenery to the restaurant which has good views.
