We had a 'blue sky day' renting bikes at the Djurgårdsbrons sjöcafé - next to the bridge from town. We were there right at 10 AM - took the ferry over from Slussen with our SL card - but bike rentals appeared open earlier - maybe just on weekends. Test your bike before heading out (had to swap out two bikes). We rode out to a cafe on the Blockhusringen point after visiting the petite Rosendal Palace then headed north to Stockholm University and Botanical Gardens. You can loop over to the other side of the lake and the Hogaparken - - with a little directional help from locals. Pick up Roslagsgatan Street at the bottom of the lake/Bellevueparken for a mostly downhill ride to the waterfront (merges into Birger Jarlsgatan). The entire ride is a 17-18 mile loop (27 km). There are not many cafe options until back in town on Roslagsgatan.
