Owner description: The Vasa ship capsized and sank in Stockholm 1628. After 333 years on the sea bed the mighty warship was salvaged and the voyage could continue. Today Vasa is the world's only preserved 17th century ship and the most visited museum in Scandinavia.

This is the must see site when visiting Stockholm. The old Swedish navy ship sunk 20 minutes into its maiden voyage in the harbor for a few hundred years until the early 60's. It's well preserved with the museum built around the ship. They have 3 to 4 English guided tours daily included in the entrance fee and is well worth the wait.
Overall a unique and memorable Swedish experience.

This was by far the best thing I did in Stockholm.
The museum is well curated and the explanation of the restoration very informative.
And it is included on your Stockholm card.
The museum allows you a close look at all aspects of the ship. The displays make the life during these times very understandable. A must-see.
If you arrive and there is a long line comeback in a half hour.

You have to visit the Vasa museum if you go to Stockholm, you don't have a choice as it's probably the most fascinating attraction they have (there's tons of other great ones too). Discovering this giant ship looming over you is an experience like none other. From the fascinating story of the ship to the long restauration process, to the amazing displays of what was on board when it sunk, you'll be captivated.
The museum is also very well designed to make sure you get views of the ship from every level, with access for disabled people on every level.

Try and get there early before the tourist coaches, but the place is so big even groups won't be much of a problem.

Ironic that the best attraction in the city is also one of Sweden's greatest failures, as the ship sank before it even left the harbour!

We loved the Vasa Museum! Just seeing the ship in all its glory was breath-taking. There are actually 5 levels to the museum and as you navigate them you see the ship from different perspectives. In addition, each level has exhibits around the sides. There is a daily English tour where all the specifics are explained. We found it fascinating and well worth the price.
