Owner description: The Vasa ship capsized and sank in Stockholm 1628. After 333 years on the sea bed the mighty warship was salvaged and the voyage could continue. Today Vasa is the world's only preserved 17th century ship and the most visited museum in Scandinavia.

The tour is a must. Enjoyed the stories. Preservation of the ship is amazing and the presentation of the artifacts was very well done.

Superbly preserved and presented galleon from 1628 - the side displays explaining naval life at that time is also very interesting plus the Abba museum is around the corner!

This is a real entire viking ship!! Not a reproduction. They found the skeletons inside the ship and they recreated there heads. So next to the ship they have the viking heads in glass boxes with hair and facial features to show what they really looked like. How can you say no to that?

Worth a visit and very interesting. If you like taking photos be sure to bring your wide angle lens and a camera capable of high ISO, low light shooting. I used a 14mm on a full frame Canon 5Diii and photos were great. Excellent choice for both adults and children but attention span may be limited for younger kids. There are multiple levels and floors so you can really get a great top to bottom view. There are also many supporting exhibits that provide insight into the period, the ship, the construction, the crew, etc.

At first sight you might consider missing out this museum of an old ship wrecked on its maiden voyage. Do not. An absolutely fascinating couple of hours can be had here for all ages viewing a spectacularly preserved 17th century ship with lots of surrounding displays offering insight in to life on board and even skeletons of some of the dead. If you have only time for a few places to visit in Stockholm make sure this is top of your list.
