Owner description: Nationalmuseum is Sweden's premier museum of art and design. Due to renovation, Nationalmuseum's regular museum building is closed until 2018. Visit our temporary exhibition space at Konstakademien (The Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts) in Stockholm on Fredsgatan 12. “Shocking”
Reviewed 5 June 2013

We were shocked to see a historic exhibit. There is a section of the museum that chronicles the way Swedes lived for 300 years. Displays of dining rooms, bedrooms and kitchens over the years. When we got to the 1960's exhibit, it was our living room in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1966. The furniture, lamps and wall coverings were our things...we felt so old!!! :-)

This is a great location with a SUPERIOR cafe on the first floor.

“Amazing”

Lots of interesting exhibitions--make sure you see the glasswork and interior design pieces. Useful as a overview of Swedish history, too.

“Excellent art gallery of international standing”
Reviewed 28 January 2013

for art lovers, this is the number one attraction in Stockholm and is one of the world's top museums, comprising an international collection of old masters paintings including Scandinavian art by masters such as Carl Larsson. There are also special exhibitions during the year. The museum is located on one of the city's many islands, now joined to the mainland. A walk to the museum gives attractive views across to the Old Town, while the adjoining bridge over to Skeppsholmen gives stunning maritime views in both directions from the middle of the bridge.

“Sweden's top art museum”
Reviewed 10 January 2013

Lots of great art, Rembrandt, Goya, French baroque painters etc. Also statues, icons, furniture, porcelain, design. Permanent and exhibitions. Unfortunately it will close for four years in just a month time, so hurry! I guess they will find some sort of temporary site but I'm not sure.
