“Excellent good value hotel”
Reviewed 15 March 2013

Great central location, free wi-fi (bit weak in our room), clean, spacious, breakfast included and free biscuits, coffee and tea all day. We had a 4-bed room which was perfect. Only downside is some rooms share communal bathrooms but ours was en-suite so not a problem.

Hard to find what's not to like. Great vale for money too. Happy to come again!

Room Tip: There are 4-bed rooms available for large groups which is good vale for money

The hotel on google map is near to City Area but it is quite far from it. We took a metro and had to walk about 15 mins to the hotel. As we reach there during night fall, the entrance was quite scary as there is no lights. We had to intercom the hotel for entrance and they took some time. We were worried that we are at the wrong location. We were given a 3 person room and a shared toilet but overall it was nice room to stay except that the heating system is lacking. The pantry and breakfast room is open 24 hrs so during the night if you are hungry, you can get a drink or something to eat there. There are some eateries and supermarket around this hotel

Second time I've stayed here and each time I've been impressed by the friendly and helpful staff. A nice breakfast is provided in the morning, the bed is really comfortable and the price is reasonable. A minor niggle is the toilet/shower in the corridor, but I can live with that and will definitely stay again. Close to underground too...

The Hotel Hornsgatan has the most helpful and friendly staff we encountered during our 23 days of travel in Scandanavia. At checkin we were given a very detailed introduction to the city of Stockholm with many recommendations for our stay. We had a nice large room with a private bath. It was very comfortable. A good breakfast was served in a nice room right off of the reception area. Some food and drink were available all day long. From the hotel we were able to walk to all of the places we wanted to visit. We had a couple of long days with a lot of walking but it was wonderful. Stockholm is an amazing city and we hope to return. If we do, I would be happy to stay at the Hotel Hornsgatan again.

The only negative was the street noise. We had nice warm days and we had our window open at night. There was a great deal of street noise from the bar located below the hotel. If we had closed our window it may have been much quiter.

I visited Stockholm last summer and I found hotel Hornsgatan a good, affordable stay in a quite expensive city. The location is very accesible, near the Mariatorget metro station and just ten minutes walking from the old town (let's discover the panoramic promenade at the back of the hotel) or even less from SoFo or Hornstull (I highly recommend to take a stroll through Tantolunden to Hornstull Strand and the Biografen Rio in a sunny day). My room was the 110, with a big window, a comfortable bed, free wifi and shared bathroom. That wass my first experience in a room with shared bathroom but I had to say that I hardly noticed the difference: there are three big bathrooms, very very clean and fully equipped, with shampoo and shower gel dispenser. The staff was very kind and helpful, the breakfast room is always open and you can have a cup of tea and some biscuits all day long. There are also a computer and a printer for guest use in the hall.

We stayed at the Hotel Hornsgatan in October 2012. We were quite surprised by the friendly service we received when we arrived. After checking in we were invited into the breakfast room by one of the Owners who gave us maps, told us about the city and all the things we could do and tips to save money like buying a train/ferry/bus pass for a week because we were staying for 5 nights.

The room was very clean and we had the family room which has two seperate rooms and it's own bathroom. We were very happy as it was both spacious and quite. I was also pleased with how inexpensive it was. Compared to the rest of Stockholm the hotel was a bargain. Very good value for money.

Each morning there is an array of things to have for breakfast. fruit, toast, cereal etc. All of it very fresh and abundant. During the day there is also biscuits, juice and fruit you can help yourself to. All included in the low proice.

Finally, location, it is on one of the main islands central to everything. It is walking distance to the Old Town and has many shops and restaurants surrounding it. In fact right downstairs is a very nice southern restaurant. Quite expensive for Aussies like me but quite reasonable in Stockholm. Whilst expensive it was the best steak I have had in a very long time and the pork belly was fantastic. We walked to lots of places from here but the tube is close by and we walked down to catch the ferry to the Vasa museum. If you get a chance it is a must do museum.

To sum up, you would not be disappointed if you stayed at Hotel Hornsgatan when visting stockholm.

Room Tip: The entrance is not so obvious. It is just a door on the street and the hotel is on the first floor...

My husband and I had decided to take a trip to Scandinavia and visit three countries: Denmark, Sweden, and Estonia. We were pressed for time, so we had decided to only stay in Stockholm for two nights, thinking this would be our relax city because there couldn't possibly be that much to see there. When we got to the Hornsgatan, the gentleman made us feel right at home and started telling us all about his city (I wish I remembered his name!!!), and we realized how ridiculous it was for us to think Stockholm could be small. We were too early to officially check in, but he put our luggage into storage and helped us plan out our two days in "his city" (I loved how proud he was of Stockholm.) without shelling out more money than we needed to. He ended up saving us over 200 dollars because we were originally going to get the city card, which he said only made sense if we wanted to see more than four museums (we only did two, and there is more than 100 official museums in this city). He also told us how easy it was to walk the entire city and that the one museum we wanted to see (the Vassa), we could just take the harbour taxi. He also gave us recommendations for places to eat and hang out since that was more of what our plan was for Stockholm, and they were dead on. He didn't stop there. He made sure that our luggage was put in our room when we had left to start exploring, and he gave us the numbers we needed to get prompt taxis for when we would leave to go to the airport (we flew in and out of the small international airport on the outskirts of the city). If it wasn't for him (and yes, the other staff, too, but for some reason we always caught him), the Hornsgatan would have just been a stereo-typical B&B and Stockholm would have severely hurt our wallets.

Now for the other stuff! I really enjoyed the breakfast room and the food they put out because it was filling and I had access to it all day long. Everything tasted fresh and was replenished in a timely manner. The room we had was exceptionally big for just the two of us, and we enjoyed access to our own private bath. Everything was squeaky clean, which is always a plus. Where we were situated, we could also easily use the communal baths if we had more than just the two of us. This was only the second time where I had been some place where the bathroom wasn't necessarily in the room, so it takes some getting used to if situations like that are awkward for you. The only down part for the both of us is the blinds. While living in Germany, they had what we called "shields," which were basically metal blinds installed to the outside of the window that you can close to the point where the room is pitch black no matter the time of day. For a country as far North as Sweden, we were surprised that no where in Stockholm had these sort of blinds. So, it was really hard for us to fall asleep when there was still light coming in after midnight and it only got really dark for an hour. That wasn't a hotel thing, though, but it was a fact that I wish I had known before I had gone to Stockholm. So, if you like your room to be pitch black, bring a sleep mask!!!

Oh, and when we were there, access into the B&B was a little difficult because they were tearing up the sidewalk in front of a bunch of businesses, including the Hornsgatan. The sign was there, but it is small like all the other places on that part of the street, so know the address!

Overall, this was the best place we stayed on our trip, and I wish we had chosen to spend more than two nights at this great B&B and great city.

Room Tip: Ask if the private bathroom rooms are available. These are the bigger rooms!
