Superb location for a traveler passing Stockholm by air or train is why this hotel is usually booked, and so it was in my case too. I needed to stay one night in Stockholm traveling to somewhere else in Sweden for work. Easy access, only few minutes´ walk from the airport express and main train station, tube station round the corner, reasonable price – great. Style is outdated “traditional”. Check-in late evening went smoothly and quickly. Room seemed adequate, basic and clean. What an unpleasant surprise was revealed in the early morning, when I realized that my second floor room was adjacent to a construction site where noisy work started 7 a.m.! In fact, the entire side street where the hotel is located is dug up and is a big building site. OK, this happens. But: nothing of this was mentioned when I checked in or when the room was booked. When I complained about this when checking out, the receptionist rather lamely apologized and said that next time I should ask to be booked to a room giving to the inner courtyard. No compensation was offered for this time. I am definitely not going to stay here again. So beware unless you prefer to spend your hotel nights in a building site! Feel sorry for those who have booked a holiday of several days here. Demand a room to the inner yard at least. The breakfast buffet was good quality but hardly compensated the noisy and unpleasant wakeup.

If location is everything, then the Terminus starts off with a plus. It is virtually next to the Central Train Station, offering every possible subway, commuter, and airport express option at the business traveler's disposal. We had a comfortably renovated small room, which included an updated modern bathroom, all for a very modest price. The seemingly new but rather inexpensive bed was softer than one might choose--even bouncy. But the room was clean and quiet, and service was kind on all fronts.

It is hard to wander through a hotel like the Terminus, however, and not think of missed opportunities. The building has good bones, including an handsome exterior, a central spiral marble stair, some lovely stained glass, and charming brass elevators. But at almost every turn, the decor is dowdy if not somewhat depressing. It would take relatively little time and money to update just the lobby alone, to improve on first impressions. The poorly lit breakfast area is equally downscale, serving up a standard buffet, with truly dreadful coffee. The small touches are everything, and the Terminus has a ways to go if it hopes to one day win back its guests.

My wife and I stayed at the Terminus for three nights over New Year. Since location was important to us, we decided to give the Terminus a try despite some of the less stellar reviews it got by some previous reviewers.

We scored a great deal on a standard double with breakfast through one of the hotel search sites (HRS I believe). Make sure you compare various sites since you will encounter quite different prices for the same type of room.

When we got to Stockholm, we took the Arlanda Express straight to the city center (around 20 minutes). From there it was an easy 5 minutes walk around the corner to the Terminus.

The Hotel is very conveniently located in the heart of downtown Stockholm. You can't beat the location. It is within easy walking distance from all the major sites such as Gamla Stan, the main shopping strip around Sergels Torg, City Hall, the Royal Palace, and many restaurants, convenience stores, tourist info. offices, etc. On top of that, you have the Stockholm central station right opposite the hotel with lots of littel food places and other stores. We never once used public transportation. You can also easily walk to places such as the Vasa and Skansen Museums, Sodermalm, etc. Needless to say, we were very pleased with the location.

The building itself is an old building, but not much different from many of the other buildings around Stockholm. If you expect a very modern hotel, you will be disapppointed. Having said that, the Terminus isn't so old either that it would be off-putting in our opinion. It is actually quite a good, solid hotel. We also believe that the Terminus isn't part of the Best Western franchise anymore since the BW sign outside the hotel wasn't visible It looked like it had been taken down.

Check-in was fast and staff at the reception were polite and spoke very good English. We then took the very old (but charming) elevator to the 5th floor where we had a room facing an older hotel next door that seems to be out of business.

Yes, the room makes you a bit feel like you're stepping back in time with its outdated design and furniture. Nonetheless, it was good size for two, clean, and had all the basic amenities we needed for our stay. The bed was spacious, comfortable, and bed sheets/linens were clean. We certainly slept well throughout our stay and didn't notice any traffic noise coming from the main street below.

There was plenty of space for our suitcase and wardrobe. The room also had a smaller flatscreen TV with some English language entertainment and news channels, a table plus chair, and the usual writing desk. However, there was no minibar or fridge.

The bathroom was outdated in design as well, but spacious, clean, and had shower amenities, and a hair dryer. We basically only brought our toothbrushes with us.

Breakfast was located behind the lobby area in a surprisingly spacious and pleasant room. Much more, the quality and variety of foods on offer was outstanding in our opinion for a hotel in this price range. There was a good selection of breads, cereals, fruits, cold cuts, jams etc. You could even find chilled soy milk for those who don't drink milk. Breakfast is definitely a strength at this hotel. Besides us, there were at most 2-3 other guests in the breakfast room every morning, making breakfast all the more pleasant. Of course, that was probably due to it being New Years time.

When we left, checkout was speedy and, again, staff at the front desk were courteous.

All in all, we liked staying at the Terminus and wouldn't mind staying there again. Once again, the location is fantastic and you will love breakfast!

This hotel is located in front of the central railway station which makes it a perfect location. You can come here with a subway or the express train from Arlanda airport. The hotel itself is what I would consider a 100% business hotel where you spend as little time as possible and you primarily just sleep here. The hotel room I received was a single bed room which was ok for me since I just….sleep there. It is outdated and it feels like a mid-eighties hotel. But this is ok since you just stay here for the location. The price for the room was very ok considering the rather high level in the rest of Stockholm. I would recommend it for the business traveller.

Hotel is centrally located right opposite the Central Station where both the Arlanda Airport buses and the Arlanda Express will deposit you. Reception staff at the time of my 3 night visit in September were welcoming although this does not appear to have been the experience of some other reviewers. Both myself and my travel companion stayed in single rooms which whilst very clean were somewhat old fashioned in terms of colour, decor and layout. The bathroom was reasonably modern and kept very clean. A traditional Swedish breakfast is provided with plenty of choice. Hotel has free wi-fi. If you do not need to stay near the Central Station then there are plenty of other hotels in Stockholm I would choose above this one. Recognising that hotels in Stockholm can be very pricey I do not believe this one delivered value for money.

I got a single room, witha bed so small that I could not turn on my self while sleeping. The bathroom is small and a little bit hold, The breakfast is good with a lot of choice the staff is kind and printed for free the boarding pass , the internet conection is for free. The hotel is in front of the station , and around there are a lot of restaurant and fast food , furthermore is 300 m far from the arlanda express. but probably next time I will choose some other hotel near by, since the rate is not cheap.
