Stayed here four nights for business reasons. Room are absolutely tiny! But I have no need for more space. All you can need is there. Clean and big enough bathroom. Small tv. Writingdesk, hairdryer. One funny part is that the next house is one meter or so from your window. The alley outside is, as everywhere in the Old Town, very narrow. Look on the bright side and get to know the swedish habits, how the lokals live their lives! Breakfastroom small but never crowded. Staff friendly and helpful and cleaning very efficient. Will stay here again.

Booked via conference organiser's website. Location great for the old town and walkable from the Central Station, but (and its a very big but) the rooms are absolutely tiny. Bathroom barely big enough to turn around in, nowhere to put suitcase, wardrobe space almost nil. Despite this was warm, clean and comfortable, and staff were polite, but certainly no trappings of a modern 4-star. Was unable to even iron clothes properly as a full-sized ironing board would not fit in the room! For the money (200 euros per night), I'm sure that there is better.

I went alone here for one night mainly to go to a concert. It was warm and late in the afternoon when I arrived. The hotel is located in the middle of Västerlånggatan, the street that goes through the old town in Stockholm and hence very nicely positioned. Close to the main sites such as the Royal Castle and in the same time away from the nightclubs which means you can have your window open at the middle of the night and still sleep in silence.

The first view of the hotel is the long narrow lobby. It is fresh with lovely antiques in displaycases. I was treated very well by the staff upon checking.

The room I was given was nr 12 on the first floor. It was a singles room with the window out towards a narrow alley. There was a bed, a small desk with chair, a bureau and a small bookshelf with a tv. The toilet was very minimalistic with a sink ahead of the door, toilet to the left and shower to the right.

Over the bed was a really cool ship model inserted in the wall.

I found the room very clean albeit abit worn down. There where some closets behind the door and I think those would have been enough. The bureau really took much space in the room.

As a whole thou the room was perfectly alright.

There is one slight problem thou as I see it (besides seeing the nextdoor family doing their dishes in the window just one or two meters opposite my own). There is no A/C.

I came back from the concert close to midnight and it was about 25 degrees outside. The room was not cold if we put it like that. The lack of A/C and the positioning of the windows out towards small alleys didnt help me in my quest to chill down.

I just passed the breakfast buffet the next day having a train to catch but it looked nice and fresh as well.

Would I come back? Maybe, but the problem is that the sister hotel Lady Nelson is just two blocks away. The slight difference in price doesnt make up for the rather (in my book) large difference in comfort (ie more spacious rooms and A/C). I feel this is more like a B&B than a hotel which isnt wrong, just not what I was looking for.

I thought the hotel had a great location, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms. Poop deck provided a great view, internet service was a bonus. Superior single small, but just what was needed, all amenities just right. I would return tomorrow.

This hotel is friendly and in a nice location (the old town). For that it can't be beaten. It was relatively quiet, the rooms quite small, but we didn't need a lot of room and the staff were friendly.

I'd say it was on the expensive side for a 3 star (£100 per night), but Stockholm is expensive full stop. It is a nice 3 star with no surprises.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Lord Nelson Hotel is an intimate, friendly and pleasant hotel right in the heart of Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town. You find the hotel on the main street, close to the city centre and all the capital’s sights and attractions. But the hotel itself is also an attraction, as it contains a unique, private collection of maritime antiques – passionately gathered through the decades by the owner family Bengtsson. All rooms have been designed and decorated to resemble cabins on a ship. The building dates from the 17th century and at just under six metres wide, this property is undoubtedly Sweden’s narrowest hotel. In the Summer time the hotel guests can enjoy a Beautiful view on Poop Deck, the roof top terrace. The Continental Breakfast has an organic a fairtrade profile, and the hotel offers free coffe and tea service in the library on the first floor. ... more   less
