In the middle of leasure Stockholm, next to Grøna Lund, Skansen and a couple of nice restaurants an a short tramway away from the city center or a short boattrip to the Old City. Nice in summer but also good the rest of the year.

Room Tip: Because of construction workoutside ask for a room garden side.

We stayed for 3 nights in a Superior room which was quite small. More the size of a Standard room in other hotels. The weather was very hot during our stay and the Air-Con seemed to cope well. The room was cleaned to a good standard every day and bed linen and towels changed. Beds are very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was always buffet style whether you were having breakfast or lunch (didn't have evening meal but guess it was the same). It got pretty busy in there particularly at breakfast times and you could end up queueing for your food more often than not. There was always a good choice though. The location was good as there is a large park close by, also other places of interest such as Skansen, the Vasa Museum and the Abba Museum. All within walking distance. The ferry is the best option if you want to visit the Old Town and the centre of Stockholm. The terminal is a few minutes walk from the hotel and a single ticket costs about £3.60. It takes 10 minutes to get across and the ferries also run every 10 minutes. The hotel has a nice garden to sit and relax in. We found the area nice and quiet too. This hotel is quite expensive so if you want a normal sized room and to be served your food at the table, try a different one.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the 5th floor as this floor has a nice terrace where you can sunbathe. Also pick a...

The hotel has a great location close to many of Stockholms big sights. The hotel though could need some improvements. Small room and an aircon that was not able to handle the record? heat in July/August 2014. Breakfast was ok, but suffers a bit under the feeling that it is a cost saving excercise. Lunch and dinner at the hotel was only buffet serving; which didn't tempt us. Big plus for the nice garden/terrace with outside serving of drinks, etc.

The overall rating of this hotel is only 2*-POOR due to extremely high prices (1500 sek per night for single occupation in a standard double room). On top of that the hotel and rooms are old. The hotels aircondition was out of service. My room was small (luckily I was alone and didnt have lots of luggages).
Even though the room was on the 4th floor, I didn't have any view. In fact it was the opposite: The window was headed to the roof terrace, and everybody on the roof terrace could stay and look into my room and I did not dare to open the window. Avoid room 428!!!
Breakfast was also miserable and too ordinary for being a 1500 SEK hotel. No eggs- no bacon. Just ham, cheese and pancakes. Drinks was also standard: milk, orange juice and apple juice.

A small thumbs up for the following:
- Free and easy in room wifi
- Located next to the Grona Lund amusement park
- A small kids play ground available in the hotel

If rooms and breakfast were bigger, this could be a good alternative for families with children.

Room Tip: Avoid room 428. Public roof terrace is outside the room and people can look directly into the room.

This is our 2nd stay at this same hotel. If you are travelling with kids it is probably one of the better places to stay. But, I am sad to say that since we first visited Stockholm 4 years ago and stayed at this very same hotel on recommendations from some of our friends it looks like the service has gone down. I will break this review to what we liked and did not like about it.
The location is great. It is right beneath the zoo and the old Scandinavian village Scansen. The fun amusement park Grona Lund is right in front of the hotel as well as the Abba museum. The Vasa Museum is 10 min away by foot as well as water taxi to the Old town. The tram no.7 and the Hop on/Hop Off tour busses stop right in front of the hotel.
The hotel grounds are quite pretty with lots of lounge chairs and grassy areas for kids to run around. This is very important if you are staying here for more than 2 nights because the rooms are very small. Also, due to this fact the hotel does not feel squeezed in between the cement buildings like other downtown hotels are. There is a sand pit with toys for kids to play in. There is also a mini playroom with a TV playing movies for kids. And you can rent Legos for free at the reception and take them to your room.
The beds are very comfortable.
People working at the reception were always very helpful and friendly. They would offer to open the playroom for us even in the middle of the night since we were jetlagged and up at odd times during the night.
The rooms were clean.
The lobby area had small snack bar and coffee bar that can come in handy if you are jet lagged and hungry in the middle of the night.
The rooms are small and when I say small I really mean tiny. We got a room on the 3rd floor that is a family room and should sleep 2 adults and 2 kids. We had one large bed and a pull out sofa. But when the sofa is pulled out there is literally no space to move around the room.
There is no shelf space at all, just a tiny space with 4 hangers to hang some of your clothes so we had to keep all our clothes in our luggage during the whole week of our stay.
There is no space to store your luggage away so we had to move the one chair that was in the room to the bathroom in order to move around the room. And we only had 2 medium size pieces of luggage. I wonder what do people do if they have more bags.
The bathroom is just as tiny with very minimal amenities. There is only a shower gel and a shampoo in it, so plan accordingly if you need a conditioner or anything else.
Our room was on the 3rd floor but still below the ground level so people could see in from the outside and we had no view.
The lobby area is small but nice, the lounge area looks quite dingy and has an odd smell as well as the restaurant. The food served is ok, a buffet style which is good but we found it quite expensive for what you get so I highly recommend eating elsewhere especially during lunch time when the buffet offers very limited menu. In addition, getting the Scandic membership card may help reducing the price of food by 20%. But the discount works only for food, not the drinks.
The restaurant was a bustling place 4 years ago but not this time around. It seems like the kitchen was downgraded and there was only limited menu at the bar.
Overall the lounge area could use lots of lift, especially when it comes to light.
The rooms have air conditioning that we could not neither turn off nor operate and it was on all the time completely unnecessarily.

So overall, if I was rating the hotel itself only I would give it between 2 and 3 stars but due to its location and the lovely grounds I am thinking it deserves 3.5 stars.

NOTE: if you are travelling with kids and look for a hotel on regular travel sites like Bookings.com or Expedia.com this hotel may not pop up as available for families of 4 and more. I highly recommend going on Scandic.com and book your room directly though them. They will have more options in room availability as well as price. If you prepay your room in full you will get a significant discount that does not always shows on other travel sites.
Also, it may be worth while signing up for their membership in order to get points, free stay in future and 20% discount in food.

Room Tip: If booking a family room ask for larger ones if available because the rooms are very small. The 2nd...

Stayed for one night with both the day before and the night after were packed with various activities. Everything we needed was within walkingdistance (Wasa ship, Junibacken, Gröna Lund, Skansen) and the rest of the city was just a tramride away.

The hotel in itself offered quality from start to finish, you could have breakfast, lunch and dinner in the same place and enjoy a cool drink in the park during the warm summer night. The reception at the Reception was great and welcoming and the kids loved our stay. Our family room had everything we needed, thou I would book one with a minibar for storing cool drinks.

If you are on familybusiness in Stockholm its a great choice!
