Stallmastaregarden is exactly what I look for when traveling to Europe--a charming atmosphere that captures the history and unique qualities of the country I am visiting. Stallmastaregarden manages to combine the best of the old and the new. It's historic and charming, with elegant, updated comforts. Rooms are in a new building which was built to look like the old inn. Our room had two levels, with a sleeping loft on the second level, along with a second bathroom. The old part of the inn featured beautiful Swedish antiques a la Carl Larsson. Very storybook! We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake, and a light supper at the cafe closer to the lake. The grounds are lovely, and lead directly to Haga Park. We took a stroll through the park to the summer Palace (Gustav's Pavillion) and copper tents.
Access to the city center is farily convenient. It's about a ten minute walk to the nearest T-bana. But I would recommend this hotel more as a special experience in and of itself, rather than as a base for heavy sight-seeing. We stayed a few days in the city center before visitng here. Highly recommended, overall.More
