“Okay, but be prepared to walk”
Reviewed 22 August 2011

This hotel is okay for Stockholm. Not great, not certainly not bad either. It sits on conveniently between the main shopping street and close to the train station. Restaurant Grill is around the corner.

Just make sure you get one of the rooms facing Wallingatan or you're in for a walk. Take a lift way up there and stroll to the backside of the hotel way back on the other side of the block. The walk can easily take up to 5 minutes if the elevator doesn't make you wait.

The restaurant and bar are okay, breakfast again Swedish and okay. The rooms are regular to large, the beds okay. Bathrooms are clean and neat, although a bit small. Make sure you enroll the Scandic program as it gives you coupons to spend on soda's and fruit from the hotel shop. No free coffee though. This is Europe, but they do have free Wifi.

within 8 minutes walk from the central train station and around the block from the city center conference centre. within minutes from shopping, walking and eating.

taking the train from the airport is easy, like 500 SEK then turn left walk just a few minutes to the hotel, easy to find.

Had short family-break in Stockhom in mid-July.
Room was extremely small and little bit "out-of-style". But bathroom was very ok.
We found breakfast very good, however every morning we had some difficulties to find a table (holiday-season) for having breakfast. So one morning I ate my breakfast at "bar".
Location is very good; near the city-centre but on the very quiet street (Wallingatan).
The only real negative-side was the short of elevators; they only had two small elevators to get to the floors and there was a continuos queue to the elevator.
However, I would certainly come back to this hotel. Personal at the reception were wonderful and always ready to help!

The Good:
Excellent central tourist location. Clean. Friendly front desk staff. Late check-out not a problem. By Stockholm standards, quite a good price (SEK1200). Plentiful breakfast. Tea/coffee in the room. Lots of instant hot water for very good shower.
The not-so-good:
Very small room on floor 5. I mean s-m-a-l-l. Single slow lift to floors in old section. TV stations very poor reception. Wireless internet access free but unusable.
The bad:
This hotel is used by large group bookings. Breakfast is like a busy railway station but located in the small lobby. You queue for most everything and they run out all the time. But everything is replenished on request. Hard to find an empty table. It's just not a happy experience. The 'hot' food was usually just warm. We stayed five nights but it seemed to be so busy all the time.

Room Tip: Ask (demand!!) a room in the new part!!

Perhaps we'd have never found out, what a gem this hotel is, if we had planned our journey a bit earlier than we actually did. The time was running up, and we had only three attractive variants, and it was a kind of a lucky guess to book just this hotel: I don't know, what the other ones might have been like, but our stay was pure pleasure and joy.

The location is perfect: it takes you 10 minutes to get there on foot from the Central Station (that is from Arlanda Express station, too, if you are coming from that airport); the way to Gamla Stan (the historical centre of Stockholm) is easy to find, and in 15 minutes you are down there (of course, if you don't get seduced and delayed by the shops).

The interior is nice and enjoyable, although at first the inner planning of the building seems to be a bit confusing, but this feeling does pass very quickly. And our room was lovely, indeed: spacious, clean, well-designed, with fantastic beds and a very good bathroom. Also I can't help mentioning the electrical teapot (tea-bags and sugar were delivered daily) - that was a great asset. The window was another delightful thing - it did a lot for the general impression. And of course, the air-conditioning feels good, when it is set properly.

The breakfast was rich and tasty; it really helped us to start our day. And the room, where it is served, is very satisfying: it provides a measure of privacy for rather many guests simultaneously.

This was not a cheap treat, but it wasn't expensive for Stockholm either.

I'd stay there again (and I hope we will), and I'll check the Scandic option for any place I'll go to in the future.

stockholm is an expensive place but this hotel was good value and conveniently located.
Breakfast was good and had a wide choice including hot food. The room was modern and clean. Did not have much interaction with the staff but they were helpful.

It is 5 minutes walk to the nearest T-bana (Hotorget). There are lots of places to eat closeby and you can actually walk to the main shopping area and department stores within 15 minutes. These shops are also near T-central (from where the arlanda express train leaves), and this is a very short journey on the T-bana.
