“Perfect base”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 September 2011

I stayed at the Scandic Norra Bantorget for 2 nights in July and was very pleased.
Stockholm is not a cheap place for hotels but at €220 for b&b for the 2 of us for 2 nights I thought this was good value.
Our room was large, comfortable and very clean, containing everything you would expect; tv, refrigerator, hair-dryer etc.
Breakfast was a buffet which contained a huge variety of juices, hot and cold food, fruit, lovely breads; perfect!
Location is good, walking distance to everywhere ... the palace, gamla stan, train stations. Check-in and out went smoothly and the staff were friendly and professional.

All in all, I would definitely stay here again.

I went here twice - the first week I got an "upgrade" to an apartment room in another building two blocks away - nice of course but I didnt really need it. The other week I got a standard room - I know that Scandic is very plain standards - but this was just the most boring standard room I have ever had. Yes it was clean and the bed was fine, but the room was so lightly equiped that almost heard my voice echoing in the room when speaking.
The breakfast room and restaurant is more or less i the reception - not really a place you feel attempted to stay for a nother beer.
But the hotel is very nice located and the rates are reasonable - so I might actually use this hotel again just for those reasons.

we stayed 3 nights in this hotel from 24-27 August 2011. It was our first time to Stockholm, so we weren't quite sure about the location, but it was very central. Very nice staff at reception. We called for bathrobes, no problem. When they did not refill coffee and tea in the room it took one phone call to reception. Our room was in the other building, quite a walk from reception/breakfast, but that is really not a big deal. Room on the 8-th floor with beautiful view over Stockholm. I think we had a renovated room, it was very nicely decorated and clean. Bathroom was nice, but water kept running under the door while showering. Breakfast is nice. Like more people wrote, it can be very busy during breakfast but we always found a table. You can rent bikes from reception, can only book them one day upfront. Very nice stay

Our family of 4 adults stayed here for 5 days in July, 2011 and enjoyed the hotel and its location. The staff was super nice and very helpful with everything from directions, recommendations for dinner, and generally answering questions we had. The hotel itself has been added onto several times and as such, can be a bit of a challenge to navigate getting to and from your room, depending on where it is located. We had 2 rooms across the hall from one another and they were more than adequate with comfortable beds, nice but small bathrooms, and adequate room for two persons each. The hotel also has 3 bicycles that they loan out to guests which are a fun diversion and good exercise. Free WiFi works throughout the hotel (at least it did in our rooms) and I will not stay at a hotel that charges for it because I feel that it is now the industry standard for hotels.

One of the things that we appreciated the most was the large and diverse breakfast. On most days, we were able to “fuel up” enough at breakfast to avoid a big and expensive lunch, eating an early dinner and/or maybe a mid-afternoon snack to tide us over. Several reviewers have said that they had trouble find a place to sit at breakfast but we never experienced this problem, maybe because we tended to eat around 8:00 am. A warning: the outdoor patio is the smoking area during breakfast and can be overwhelming with smoke even near the doors.

The hotel is located on Wallingatan just a block off the main pedestrian mall of Drottninggatan which makes it very convenient to shops and restaurants. It is an easy 10-15 minute walk to the center of the city, the main train station (under construction when we were there), visitor information center (buy your multi-day Stockholm tickets here), trams, etc.

Overall, a very good value for money!

Excellent staff.
Bar closes early at 11.
Free internet.
Excellent breakfast included in price.
Only down side you can hear people in the next room. Doors closing on the corridor make a loud bang.

Stayed here for two nights and thought it was a great value for the money. The hotel is in a good location, on a quiet side street to Drottninggatan, within walking distance to most shops and museums.

The room was clean and overall in great shape, the only thing that it was lacking was a closet (or somewhere else to put your clothes), it only had a couple of hangers, not a big problem, but still a problem…

The breakfast was (as always with Scandic) great and had good range of stuff to eat and drink.

The next time I visit Stockholm I will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is okay for Stockholm. Not great, not certainly not bad either. It sits on conveniently between the main shopping street and close to the train station. Restaurant Grill is around the corner.

Just make sure you get one of the rooms facing Wallingatan or you're in for a walk. Take a lift way up there and stroll to the backside of the hotel way back on the other side of the block. The walk can easily take up to 5 minutes if the elevator doesn't make you wait.

The restaurant and bar are okay, breakfast again Swedish and okay. The rooms are regular to large, the beds okay. Bathrooms are clean and neat, although a bit small. Make sure you enroll the Scandic program as it gives you coupons to spend on soda's and fruit from the hotel shop. No free coffee though. This is Europe, but they do have free Wifi.
