“Little gem that spoils you rotten”
Reviewed 26 July 2013

Don’t be put off by the discrete entrance on the street (Nybrogatan). Up the stairway lies a welcoming reception staffed by unusually friendly and helpful people. The rooms, with very comfortable beds, are all on the same floor and face the street or the courtyard. The location is ideal right in the city centre and most of the tourist attractions are within walking distance. The subway (tunnelbana) is a block away as are a good supermarket and an indoor European food market. The ferry boats for excursions to Stockholm’s Archipelago are 5 minutes away.

Since there is no breakfast room, breakfast is delivered to the room and what a breakfast it is: everything from muesli and Swedish yogurt (filmjolk) to boiled egg with Kalle’s caviar. Every night, one orders the items desired and the time for delivery the following morning. No need to even get out of bed!

A public computer for internet access is available near the reception.

For people who are interested in architecture, don’t miss the tour of the City Hall (Stadshuset). Of course, the Old City (Gamla Stan) with its narrow streets, shops and restaurants, is a must.

Room Tip: Twin room number 126 is very quiet and has a nice sitting area

This hotel is wonderfully located in the busy downtown area of Stockholm. The rooms vary a lot, and the ones that have been updated are definitely more comfortable. A lot of things didn't work in our room, but the staff were very accommodating in trying to help us out. Our first room had just had the carpet cleaned and it was soaking wet. Neither mini-bar worked, but we understand that they are due for replacement this spring. Breakfast was definitely a low point, but there are so many restaurants and things to do in the neighborhood that it was not a big deal.

Late review.
My wife and I stayed here last year and we enjoyed it very much.

It is a comfortable hotel with friendly staff. Good location - easy walk to the centre.
Rooms were nice and clean.
Good value!

This hotel in the middle of stockholm is really good value for the money. It does not have own restaurant or bar but that really is not problem. There are plenty of nice restaurants in the neighborhood. And the old östermalmshallen next door with its unique atmosphere is really worth visiting.

Pretty nice hotel with excellent situation. Friendly staff. Room was big enough for two person. Reasonable price. There were no restaurant in hotel but it does not matter because there were several restaurants nearby as well as bakerie. Östermalm old saluhall is only 3 minutes walk.

This hotel offers a fantastic location combined with great service at an acceptable price for Stockholm. All the major sights can be reached on foot, but a metro stop is also 5 mins away, as well as the tram and harbour. The neighbourhood is posh and felt perfectly safe at all times. There are several good restaurants nearby, as well as the famous Saluhall market, but also a McDonald's if you just want to grab something quick.
The staff at reception is unfailingly polite, kind and quick to accommodate your needs/requests. My friend is gluten-intolerant but it represented no problem for the staff to arrange her breakfast accordingly. Served in your room at any time during the morning, the breakfast is ample: cereals, yoghurt, boiled egg, toast, butter, honey, jam, cold cuts, cucumber slices, fruit, tea/coffee/hot chocolate/juice. It sets you up for the day wonderfully.
We had a triple room on the first floor overlooking the street which was unusually spacious and did not feel cramped at all. There was some noise from the street, but it didn't bother us too much. (There are earplugs at the reception if you're a light sleeper.) There was a sitting area with a big table next to the window, where we had our breakfast. The beds were too soft for us, but this was expected. The bathroom was spotlessly clean (towels get changed every day) and beautifully appointed.
We felt the hotel offered great value for money, suited our needs, and the location was just perfect. Warmly recommended!

This is a real throw-back to the wonderful old European hotels of my youth. The staff is exceedingly friendly, helpful, and English-fluent. The rooms are quaint, but spacious. The beds are extremely comfortable; no problem sleeping. The bathroom was just a little old-fashioned, like home, and not at all antiquated. Breakfast, brought to your room at virtually any hour of the morning you desire, is copious and excellent. All this for a reasonable price (by Scandanavian standards.). And you won't have to jostle with hoards of rude tour groups. It's simply not that kind of place.
Most wonderful, the hotel is absolutely perfectly located on a pedestrian street in Stockholm, seconds away from public transportation and one of the two principal ferry/tour boat docks in the City. (The other one is an easy 10 minute walk further away.) Up the street is a wonderful indoor market place where you can get good Scandanavian food for reasonable prices (but only until 6 p.m. and not on weekends). Access to all the major sites of Stockholm, including both Gamla Stan and the Djurgarten, is minutes away by easy walk along beautiful streets and scenic waterways. We definitely look forward to staying here on our next visit to beautiful Stockholm!
