If TripAdvisor reviews are in line to each other and you read through those, you do not get surprised. I have started to dislike that as getting surprised is part of the excitement of travelling. However, hotel Tegnerlunden was as reviews told. Nicely located, cosy hotel with good breakfast. We enjoyed our stay and had a delicious dinner at restaurant Esperanza close to hotel. Average+ value for money.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in Oct 2012. It is approx 7mins walk from the central terminal station ( ie airport coaches and arlanda express) and was easy to find. We had a double room overlooking the park which was a nice view. The room was very comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was very good, lots of choice and was kept well stocked. It was approx 3 mins from the main street going into the centre with lots of gift shops, cafes, etc so location was good. We slept very well as the bed was comfy and there was no noise at night. Altogether a good hotel at a reasonable price. Would stay here again!

It was one of those nights when you come in late, just need a clean bed to sleep in and then leave early in the morning. I booked in the last minute and got a good room with breakfast in central town for under 1000 SEK, how about that? It seems they have lower prices for last-minute bookings.
The hotel is located a 10 minute walk from central station, a standard no-frills well-run hotel. Room was clean and up to expectations but nothing extra, there is no big street outside the hotel so it was dead quiet. Breakfast was a little on the smaller side, the only hot dish I found was an oven omelette which didn't look that exiting but the rest was fresh and good. Nice place if you need a central place to sleep.

My husband and I had a most pleasant experience at Hotel Tegnerlunden in July 2012.

Staff were very welcoming, friendly and happy to assist.

Our room was very clean, comfortable and modern. The style added to our experience because it felt as though we were in an authentic Swedish apartment-style dwelling and this was something we quite enjoyed. The lobby also offers a cozy seating area adjacent to a little bar where you can have a drink and a snack before dinner.

The location was great! The hotel faces a lovely little park (Tegnerlunden park) in a quiet neighborhood but it is very close to the vibrant Drottninggatan (Queen's) street. The major part of this street this pedestrian with shops, stores and restaurants leading right downtown. It is a very pleasant walk and many sights are within walking distance.

The breakfast buffet at Tegnerlunden Hotel was very good and regularly replenished. All and all this was great value for money and we had a terrific experience at a hotel that makes you feel at home.

We would definitely stay here again and certainly recommend it!

I'll come back to Tegnerlunden on my next visit to Stockholm. Just booked it by chance, the place is modern, extremely well located, in a quiet neighbourhood, but very close to the subway (Rådmangatan) and to the vibrant upper part of Drottninggatan. The park in front of it has huge black rabbits running around, and it's very nice to just sit there on a sunny afternoon! Breakfast is honest, service is very good and English-speaking. I don't give it 5 stars because the bathroom was really small, and cleaning was below par (I did stay for 7 nights...).

Like others have said the hotel isn't too much to look at from the outside, but the inside is clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We made a request for a high floor and were placed on the top floor (6), which was great we overlooked the park across the street and the room was quiet. Rooms are small, but that's to be expected in a boutique type hotel in Scandinavia. The shower actually had a door which was nice and unexpected as you typically find "wet room" style bathrooms in Sweden and Norway. Be sure to check out a great, locally owned and operated Italian restaurant very close by called "Bruchetto" - it's charming and has amazing food...the owner Claudio was accommodating when we didn't have reservations and very friendly. It's pretty small so reservations are probably a good idea.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor and a view of the park

My husband and I just spent 6 days and nights at the Hotel Tegnerlunden and while several things were nice about the hotel, we were disappointed in a few crucial things. First the good: The reception staff were nice and helpful. The hotel is on a quiet street so noise is not a factor (but then it isn't close to anything.) There is a lovely park right outside the hotel and our window faced it. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was quiet good and kept us going until dinnertime. Everything was very clean. Now the bad: There was no soap or shampoo except for a wall dispenser that contains the kind of stuff you get in a public bathroom; we had to buy our own. The towels were threadbare and scratchy and when I asked for an extra set on the day we checked in we were told that they had no extras. There was no clock in the room. There was no box of tissues. The water from the shower ran under the enclosure and flooded the bathroom floor--so you had to use your towel to mop it up if you wanted to use the bathroom. The curtains didn't cover the windows so morning light woke us up. The room was inexplicably hot considering that no heat was on and the outside temperature was in the 50s. Overall, I would have to rate this hotel as average--inexpensive for Stockholm but expensive compared with a comparable hotel in the U.S.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the park.
