“Lovely stay in the heart of Ostermalm”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

We were on the first floor great terrace and really got a taste of a European flat
Our room opened on to terrace with a bistro table. That then opened on to a larger open terrace. Breakfast and a light supper was included in the price of the room. The food was delicious. The Metro was one block away but we were able to walk most places. I would happily stay at the Wellington again.

Having spent two nights and 3 days in Stockholm as a couple on holiday, our expectations were sadly not met, particularly given the many positive reviews on Tripadvisor for this hotel. A number of issues contributed to the mediocre rating we have to provide (also given our recent experience with other Stockholm hotels in the same price range):

We upgraded to a superior double, but it did not feel like one - very cramped bathroom, hardly any room to move around in the shower, no bathtub, with open pipes and a partly damaged shower door. Fairly small room and somewhat boring interior, small tv. We specifically booked for a queens bed, not two separate beds, but it turned out that this was impossible to accommodate - no message given before we discovered this when entering the room - only single beds put together in the superior category. if we wanted a double bed, we had to downgrade to normal double room.... strange.

The room was very close to the elevator, and the noise bothered us, we thought someone was at the door to the room every time the elevator stopped and the elevator door opened. In addition, a very noisy street, we kept the French doors open due to the heat, but were woken up very early every morning by street noise that did not stop (trucks involved in road work or whatever).

Also, the second morning there were no seating or table available to eat the breakfast in the small reception/breakfast area... we do not know if the hotel was even full.
Finally, the interior in the entire hotel had a definite worn feeling.

For the price we paid for the superior room, there are better alternatives and more stylish hotels available.

On the positive side: Very good arrangement with the nightly supper included in the price, this alone is worth an entire point in the rating. Friendly staff. Nice location if you want to stay at Østermalm area. Decent breakfast (very good scrambled eggs and fresh orange and apple juice in particular! ).

Room Tip: Avoid rooms close to the elevator, you will be bothered by noise. If you choose superior, ask for on...

Perfect location of the hotel with walking distance to city center, very tasty breakfast and evening food, very serviceminded personnel, fresh and clean rooms, terrace available at first floor. A bit noisy as we had the room closest to the elevator, but will for sure be back at this hotel!

Our room was attractive and comfortable (2nd floor facing street). Safe did not work but the main desk one was available to us. Most everything we wanted to see was within walking distance.
Nice surprise was the dinner served nightly as part of the stay. Breakfast was included and delicious.

We have just spent 4 nights in this hotel (from July, 7th 2014 to July, 12th 2014) following comments from other Tripadvisor users. The hotel is very well located an the Superior Double Room we had was good enough.I say good enough because neither the Safe Box in the Room or the water heater to prepare tea worked and I'm still waiting for the staff to say something about.
On the other side I have to say the breakfast offered was very good and also the complimentary dinner, wich we found very complete to be complimentary.
Next time I come back to Stockholm I'll try to reserve on this hotel again.

Hotel Wellington is just a short walk to Djurgarden where you can visit Skansen-the open-air museum, The VASA museum, the Nordic Museum, ABBA museum, and Grona Lund Amusement Park. It is also not far to the waterfront where you can board a board to the Archipelago. Gamla Stan, the old town of Stockholm, is not too far either. Hotel Wellington is on a side street in the Ostermalm area of Stockholm. It offers a free breakfast and dinner and has coffee and tea available at all times. It has a small bar and sitting area which was perfect after our long touring days. The staff made sure that our stay with them was welcoming and enjoyable. Our room was very clean and well maintained. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi in the lobby and rooms. I would highly recommend Hotel Wellington.

I booked this hotel on the recommendation of fellow Tripadvisors and was not disappointed. We had a room on the first floor which faced out onto the street. It was small but not uncomfortably so, and the bathroom was a good size. Breakfast is amazing and dinner a nice surprise given that both are included in the price of your stay. We had dinner only once as we wanted to try the local restaurants, but you get three courses and it was delicious. Free beverages and cookies throughout the day in the lobby area/restaurant is a nice touch. What was also amazing was the free desktop pc we were allowed to access in the lobby area, (I had not bought my tablet). This was for client use only and was such a result! The walk to town was only 15 minutes at a slow pace and you are close to the main shopping area and harbours for boat trips etc. This is a nice part of town so late at night felt safe also. Incidentally we grabbed a cab from the airport which was at a set rate of SEK 520 and took 45 minutes (the price was clearly written on the cab, but we also confirmed with the driver before we left the airport). Anyway we will stay at the hotel again and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: You may want a quieter room away from the street side. We are heavy sleepers but it does get noisey...
