“Lovely hotel/hostel boats in the middle of Stockholm”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

We stayed in one of the double deluxe rooms with ensuite bathroom, and we could not fault the room/cabin. There is a lot of attention to detail here with plenty of electrical sockets, lights, and just enough space to feel very comfortable. There is a very good buffet breakfast, and a small bar on the main boat with a small bar menu. Stockholm is a wonderful city to visit, with plenty to do and see. It's an easy to walk into Gamla Stan or Sodermalm, where there are plenty of places to eat in the evening. We also discovered that we were in easy walking difference of Akkurat, which is a beer hall in Hornsgatan St.

I visited for 3 nights staying in the Dulux Double room with private bathroom. For the price and location in Stockholm it was ideal. We were put in the room on the White Boat (just behind the main Red Boat) and were on the top deck next to the Captain's wheel. It was great fun staying on a boat and all the little touches such as the wheel and sailing equipment/photos gave the boat real character. This is a budget hotel so don't expect major luxury but it was clean, very warm, very safe and the small but well designed bathroom had a lovely warm shower which we will appreciated after a day in the cold outside! The breakfast buffet is very welcomed and worth the price; it stayed opened until 10am on a week day and 11am on a weekend. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

All of the Stockholm highlights and the beautiful Old Town are within 5 minutes walk- in fact we didn't use any transport during our stay except the Tour Boats. There are lots of great restaurants and cafe's near by too.

I highly recommend visiting the Vasa museum- we went in just because we were cold and looking for something indoor to do but we were completely blown away by the museum; if like us and you are not particularly interested in historic boats this is still worth it! Other than that the Boat tours and Outdoor museum in the park are great. The city itself is easy, interesting and safe to get around; I definitely recommend you try the cinnamon buns at a café (you will not need lunch after eating these!)

Room Tip: If you can afford it try and go for the lake/river view- the view is beautiful and probably quieter...

I stayed on the boat for 4 nights last year and it was really nice! Nice cosy cabin, huge bed and decent breakfast. Gamla Stan (Old Town) and Södermalm in walking distance. If you like good food I recommend Rolfs Kök in Stockholm - really nice place with good food

This hostel is very nice and we found it very clean; The rooms are very very little but nice. Its location, 5 minute walking to Gamla Stan metro station make it a good choose if you want to visit The city easily. If you pay an extra you can get a quite good breakfast, not a wide choose of food but good and plentiful.

great position - easy to reach undergroud station and very close to the old town center (Gamlastan).
Great and unusual view on the Stockholm house and see
staff very helpfull, kind and nice approach also helping for taxi reservation! they also opened the breakfast time in advance to the usual time slot (7.30-9.30)
teen spirit in the atmosfere of the pirats!
you may choose between hostel and Hotel. I was in hotel and I had my own bath. the shower is very very small but I had a confortable stay! breakfast and bathtowel included into hotel fee.I would be there again!

Room Tip: scegliete le stanze verso il mare e al secondo piano se siete in hotel

I stayed at the Red Boat probably exactly at the wrong time.
In fact I was in the second boat, which sprang a leak and was receiving daily maintenance from early in the morning each day of my stay. Not a big issue, but there was a morning I would have liked to have slept in. Also get a room seaside, there is a fair bit of road noise otherwise.
I chose this as a cheap way to have a private room, as accommodation is expensive here. It was - fine.
The common room on the Red Boat was fun. Don't bother with breakfast - get up and explore.
Great location. Visit Hermann's for great vegetarian food and brilliant views of the harbour and Fotografiska exhibitions.
You'll need to bring your own towel or note you need to 'buy' one.
Oh and if you are anything other than small, ie. 'med-large' or tall, you will want to give this place a miss. It is a boat with small beds, passages, rooms and doorways.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room.

We stayed @ the Red Boat for 3 nights. The reception is also the lounge what looks great. Should not go for a drink or a chat but looks great. The hostel ia on the othetr boat. Don't bother that. It looks still great. We've been upgraded to a seaview room. Lovely from the people @the desk. See the skyline of stockholm when you wake up. next to Gamla Stan. Lovely kind people, who don't talk that much but are very kind to help you out on traveltimes for public transporttation. (afterwards we realised everything was walking distance) ;) Would really recommend it to my friends. Dont expect a lot of room or showers where you can put your clothes dry, but come on, price is low and it's a hostel. Not a Hotel. (Beds are very tiny but it will do for us, not for taller persons)

Room Tip: choose sea-view side and wake up with a lovely view and no traffic noise.
