My husband and I stayed in a twin room at The Red Boat for two nights.

The location of the hostel is very good, within walking distance of Gamla Stan (Old Town) and the hip SoFo area. It is a bit of a walk to the Gamla Stan metro station with baggage, but doable. It’s easy to find if you just follow the water line.

We arrived early in the morning after an overnight flight and were very grateful when we were able to check into our room early for a nap and a shower.

The rooms are very small, but the novelty of staying on a boat makes up for it. This place isn’t for the seasick, as you can sometimes feel the boat gently moving.

The common area is also quite nice; you can sit and have a drink, use the free Wi-Fi and enjoy the view if sitting outside.

During our stay, there was some construction going on nearby but it wasn’t too noisy. The other guests were also considerate so I’d describe this as a quieter hostel.

My main issue was with the bathrooms - the women’s shower only has a shower curtain for privacy and the shower was cold. You also had to keep pressing a button every minute to keep the water running. Towels are not included so make sure to bring one.

There are two boats. We stayed in the silent boat, still because of drunk neighbours could not sleep all night. View is amazing, I would watch the city all day, night. Breakfast was delicious. Prices are also ok, it is 15 min. walks from the Gamla Stan metro station with your baggage.

The hotel/hostel is actually 2 boats. The 2nd boat next door is quite plain in comparison to the red boat itself. Rooms are ok, small cabins but clean and comfortable. Shared bathrooms also nice and clean. You can hear pretty much everything from other rooms but they operate a no noise policy after 10pm. Its a great location, 10 mins walk to the old town and heaps of restaurants and bars nearby. Staff are nice and helpful.

This nice hotel is in a strategic position near the subway station. Being on a boat it is very characteristic in its kind, after sleeping some days on it you will have a funny sensation when being on the land. The rooms are quite essential and the hotel is cheap.

Some services could be better, the lower bathroom sometimes is unagible due to small flooding in the bathroom (they should try to investigate and solve the problem) and the shower could be made more private with a door instead of a curtain.

We stayed for 2 nights in January. What a unique and different place to stay. You can stay in a rectangular hotel room anytime but when do you have the chance to stay in a boat overlooking Gamla Stan? We took the T and walked over the bridge to the boat from Gamla Stan. The rooms are small and clean like you would expect on a boat. You have a wonderful view of Gamla Stan with the reflections off the water. One boat is the office, breakfast location, and lounge. The other boat has the rooms. You can keep your luggage in a locked box outside if you need to check out and have some time to go sightseeing before your next flight. We had a great time riding the T all over Stockholm and surroundings.

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing Gamla Stan
