quite small and rather limited exhibitions, considering im from Asia. did not really like the temporary exhibitions, and the japanese permanent display is fairly cute and interesting.

“Quite OK, but not on top of my list”
Reviewed 9 March 2013

I really liked the temporary Exhibition 'Hidden Love', besides that I found the museum quite boring. It is what it says - a museum of antiquities. Not quite to my taste. The café was sterile, but had nice pastry and soda drinks...

“Somewhat limited”
Reviewed 14 February 2013

The East Asiatic Museum is lodged in the old Navy Armory on Ship Island. It's a long building with focus on China from the earliest days until ca 1900. The latter centuries mainly consist of china traded to Sweden by the East India Company in the 18th century. The earlier ones show a lot of fantastic grave figurines, some of them very large and painted. There is a very small (new) Korea collection and a larger one with Japanese objects, e.g. some nice wood prints. Apart from this there are temporary exhibitions, the one running now is about gay/transsexual life and problems in China. There is a small restaurant.

“Out of the ordinary.”

Perhaps the most beautiful museum in all Stockholm. Exquisite collections, beautifully and instructively presented.
