Monika was most accommodating when we discovered that the booking dates were off because of a booking error. Monika noticed the issue first and made adjustments to accommodate us. The quad room was larger than we expected and the breakfast was plentiful and tasty. A very positive experience.

We stayed here over Easter when the ice was just breaking on the water. We could hear the water and ice against the boat which was restful. It was a unique experience. Our host met us on the boat and was very welcoming and served us warming coffee on arrival. The breakfast the next day was great too.

The bunks were very comfortable and the bathroom excellent. The room was very clean. The common breakfast room was fine as each room took a turn.

The location was great and it was lots of fun to stay on a boat and something quite different.

Traveling with 20 year old daughter and 23 year old son, I thought the four bunk room was great. Husband had a hard time with the close quarters - though the room had a very large bathroom! Kids loved the running path along the canal. Our son is 6'4" tall and had no problem moving around the room and common breakfast room. This hotel is very unconventional - which was half the fun! Met a family from Iceland and a family from Finland during our stay. Loved the conversation with other families who are adventurous. Bus stop right outside boat to Central Station.

We were looking for a place to stay in Stockholm by the water during the overnight kayaking trip.
Being not especially fond of camping, I wanted a place by the water where we could keep the kayak close by, but also sleep in civilized conditions after a tiring day. This place fitted perfectly!

Located just a short distance from several big kayak rental shops it offers access to some of the best paddling locations in Stockholm with fantastic views (the City Hall looks best from the water!) and exciting wildlife including birds and even, if lucky to spot, beavers living right next to Karlbergs slott.

It was easy to pull the kayak on the small wooden barge connected to the boat hotel, hang our equipment to dry right on deck and venture into town on foot to grab a bite to eat - a very enjoyable walk by the water. We had a twin room which was relatively small but had everything we needed. Bathroom was fresh and comfortable, and shower hot and relaxing. The beds were very comfortable to sleep in and we even had some natural light coming from the ceiling window. In the morning it was nice to just sit on deck in the sunbeds while waiting for breakfast, which was small, but delicious.

However, this hotel is probably not for those who have a lot of luggage or challenged physically as one has to climb down a rather steep and narrow ladder to get to the rooms, and by the look of other hotel guests, it wasn't very easy to do this loaded with suitcases.

Overall, the experience was very relaxing and atmosphere quite and pleasant. I would recommend it to couples on a romantic getaway and especially adventure travelers passing by the water or on bikes.

We'll definitely stay again next time we decide to take a longer paddling trip through the city.

Great choice for families. We had a four-berth cabin, which was reasonably spacious and good value in a generally very expensive city. The Monika is berthed in a nice neighborhood, with easy access to shops, buses and the metro. Right outside is a great running track, which goes along the canal and seems very popular with locals. If you check in much after 3 PM, there may not be a staff member on board to welcome you and check you in. We were emailed a gate code and other instructions to let ourselves in. We didn't see a staff member until breakfast the following morning. That didn't bother us -- in fact, we quite liked it. Lastly, if you're there in the summer, the deck is a great place to hang out and enjoy the long evening daylight after dinner.

Last minute I decided to stay here and luckily they had availability. Small but large enough that there were several sleeping quarters. I stayed in a lovely room with bunk beds. I will say that it was a little chilly but what can you expect on a boat in a frozen river. It was a quick 30 min walk to the old city just follow the river. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. This is where I fell in love with crisp bread :-). Beautifully decorated just keep in mind to not take a huge piece of luggage and its easier to turn around and go down the ladder while holding on. I learned this from the 3/4 yr old captain :-). Absolutely loved staying here and would highly recommend it to anyone staying in Stockholm. For GPS users if u can not find the location leave off Kaj vid. Also in the winter wear rubber soles the deck can be slippery.

This is a great place! Even in the dead of winter, the boat was warm, great interior design and clean, a perfect retreat from the normal hotel. There are only 4 rooms on the boat so you will have to plan ahead and book early. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time as guests on the boat.
If you have a hard time moving around you may not want to book here. There are steep stairs you must climb up and down to get to the rooms. Also pack light - It is hard lugging bags up and down.
