If you get tired of crowded touristy areas of Stockholm head to Sodermalm. The area is just across the Gamla Stan (Old Town) but not many tourists go there. Lots of lovely, leafy places i.e. Mosebacke torg. You need to go Fjalgatten street for great views across the town. The street above it has old fashioned Scandinavian cottages which give this place great vibe.
Apparently you can do Millenium walk/tour if you are a fan.

Offers great views of the city, and some authentic nightlife experiences and bars. There are also many areas, including a viewing platform to see the whole of Stockholm from. Fun fact: it was also where the Swedish 'Girl with a Dragon Tattoo' was set. I've heard it mentioned as the Brooklyn of Stockholm.

We stayed 6 nights in Sodermalm and enjoyed the restaurants and shopping. It was easy to get to the central train station and get on hop on hop off buses to get elsewhere. What we loved about the restaurants was sitting outside and watching Swedish people come and go. We picked areas that were out of the way and not where tourists would be congregating. It was lovely.

I like to wander around this area whenever I visit Stockholm. There are many nice cafes and shops around. I especially like the cheap second-hand stores. I mean, people of Stockholm are probably the most stylish in the world, and here's the source. Go wild.

This is where real people live, eat and play. Good restaurants and shops! Get out of Old Town (where only tourists are), put on walking shoes and walk around.
