Modern, luxurious and yet cosy and personal. This hotel combines the best of a large international hotel with the touch and feel of a smaller and more personal - maybe even boutique - hotel.

The rooms are not large but welcome you with comfort, personality and all the necessities from iron and board including a spray to help get your shirt crisp for the meeting.

Every room has gorgeous Egyptian cotton linnen, Blu-Ray player and a large selection of free movies and even some cd's on the shelf.

Finally the staff have always welcomed me very well and seamlessly taken care of any request with a smile.

First visit to this hotel and to Stockholm and this is the place to stay. This hotel is just outside of the city and a walk from the Gamla Stan and the Slussen underground also the Mariotorget underground, excellent location for everywhere. The rooms are lovely and clean, power shower in the bathroom was so good. We had room to the back so was nice and quiet. Lovely garden area at the front of the hotel. Breakfast is to die for, the omelettes are cooked to order and .... what more can I say. CD/DVDs free of charge, also wifi free too. Free use of internet with tea / coffee on the 4th floor. The staff are very courteous and very helpful and knowledgable. Oh and little teddy bear in the room is such a nice touch.

My daughter and I stayed 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Great position, overlooking a pretty square. We had a spacious room with a balcony. There were tea and coffee making facilities on the first floor which is an added bonus. The staff were very helpful and told us of events in Stockholm that we enjoyed. We wouldn't have known about them otherwise. The restaurant is great for dinner and the breakfast is wonderful. In fact we had such a great time that I am returning with my husband later in the year. There was a bit of noise at night from the street outside (we were there at the weekend) but earplugs sorted that and it was lovely having the view over the square.

Great restaurant with one of the best breakfast I have had at hotels.
Located at a nice square - my room had a balcony towards this square.
Both rooms and bathrooms where big and modern.
In the room there where both CD's and DVD's - this was a nice touch.

We stayed three nights over a long weekend at Rival. For the first time ever, I feel like everything at the hotel worked as it should. I think Rival wasn't special in any particular way, but it did everything so well, I couldn't have asked for more.

Staff was friendly, breakfast tasty and borrowing a DVD from reception worked well. No extra fee either. We didn't try the pillow buffet, but there was one available.

The location is in a very calm neighbourhood, close to Mariatorget -metro station. Tunnelbana in Stockholm works well, so you can trust it to travel around the city.

Rival is not for budget holidays, but it is great value for money. I will definitely consider to stay here, when travel again to Stockholm.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Hotel Rival. The hotel is very centrally located and our room was very quiet (a big plus given the jet lag). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful giving us advice on things to do, what to see, and how to get there. The rooms were small (typical of many European hotels), but very clean and well designed with nice extras like CDs and Videos. The breakfast was the best we have ever had in all our years of European travel...big buffet plus an extensive set of choices for breakfast items that you can have cooked to order. A very enjoyable place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the back -- not the street side where people go in and out of the bar/theatre that...

We have just returned from a long weekend at the Rival and were very impressed. The hotel was in a great location very close to the Tunnelbana which made travelling around very easy. Hotel was clean and fun and the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially Sean the Concierge. Definitely worth a visit!
