Something a little different.
A great change to the /usual/ hotel whilst on a business trip. The staff is young and friendly and the rooms excellent and elaborate. Hotel room speakers are always a plus in my book - especially in the bathroom.
This hotel has a good vibe, great lively bar and is in a location which reminds you that you actually are in another town/country - and not just /another/ city. I have stayed in many hotels in Stockholm (including The Grand); this would easily be my favourite.

I can only add my voice to the previous glowing reviews of the Rival Hotel in Stockholm. I had a superior room which was so fantastic, I hardly wanted to leave the room! Wonderfully comfortable bed with beautiful bed linen, two comfortable chairs (one with a teddy bear, a bit odd in such a trendy hotel, but shows the warmth and quirkiness of the place), a good desk to work at, excellent flat screen TV, video player with a few videos in the room (and more available for free from the front desk), music CDs (including of course, ABBA's greatest hits), a huge window onto a small balcony (so the room was wonderfully light during the day). Staff were really friendly and helpful to several enquiries that I had. In spite of being a multi-purpose venue (there's a popular bar, bistro, bakery, music venue/cinema all in the same building), the rooms were absolutely quiet and there's key card access everywhere, so you feel a bit priveleged as a hotel guest. Before I arrived I was a worried that the hotel was a bit out of the way, but it's in a very nice area of Stockholm with lots of shops and bars etc around and the metro is just three minutes walk away and then it's extremely easy to get anywhere in Stockholm. I will definitely be going back and recommending it to my friends.

Situated on a pleasant square, for a large hotel it's full of character. Be aware you can't park outside, they may have a parking garage somewhere but we decided to park on a nearby street, which is fine unless you don't notice that the streets are cleaned at certain times during the night. We parked on one which is cleaned between midnight and 6am so we got a ticket at 1.30am.

Also, when you walk in make sure you turn right into the hotel reception rather than straight on which is the reception desk for the music venue. We nearly got free tickets but no hotel room. Not sure who was playing but it was bedlam in the music venue part of the ground floor BUT this didn't translate into any part of the hotel nor were we kept awake or anything like that and our room was on the 1st floor.

The interior of the hotel is very funky as are the rooms. Ours was a superior which was very quiet and had a large shower with a window (with blind) from the shower into the room. It also had a huge blind with a picture of Abba on it, above the bed.

There's no water in the room but you can get some from the free coffee station on the 4th floor.

Very good buffet breakfast on the 1st floor in a large plush and light room, but I suggest getting there a bit later to avoid the incomprehensible rudeness of hungry people who although they can afford an expensive hotel like this seem to be terrified that they someone else will get to the food before they do or that they may have to wait a minute. You can also order things like espresso coffee or pancakes.

Friendly and helpful staff.

Trendy cafe next door.

All in all I can't really fault it.

Not the cheapest hotel in Stockholm and not the best location if you want to be close to all the tourist sights, but definately the place to stay if you like Söder and something different than ordinary hotel chains.

Great hotel.

Trendy but not aloof. Very friendly service. Rooms on the small side but excellent facilities.

My only negative comment would be that the room lights could do with being a bit brighter.

Good selection of DVDs to borrow for free from Reception, + iPod docking station in rooms with ability to pipe music into bathroom.

Plenty of nice soft towels.

I can only agree with the other travelers, this hotel is wonderful. So much attention is paid to the room, the comfort of their guests (they even have a pillow menu!!!) and the aesthetics. Not a detail was missed. It is impeccably clean and completely hip! But not so hip that I felt out of place. Staff is wonderful and friendly. Breakfast is fantastic. I really hope that I can go back again soon.
