Sit down with the yummy mummys at breakfast time and enjoy breakfast with the Swedes in this suburban bakery. Cinnamon or vanilla buns, cakes, biscuits etc, in a loft style dining room or a few seats on the pavement if its sunny. A good spot if you happen to be here for some reason

The food is delicious and as long as you do not try to go there around noon you will also get a table in a lovely environment.

We stopped here after a nice walk in the gardens by the lake. Popular place with pastry and a limited but tasty lunch menue. Good coffee, nice beverages and kind young staff. A quiet rustic, almost hidden, place to love and return to!

Gamla Orangeriet is one of the best places to come for lunch when the weather is nice, the sun is shining and everything in me wants to be close to the nature. The restaurant is situated in an old yellow building in the botanical garden (Bergianska trädgården, just next to the university campus), which makes it a nice lunch opportunity after a good walk (quite a romantic place, by the way). Inside there are several rooms, the main one is much warmer than the others, and there are also some tables outside. The great thing is that the roof is made of glass, so the whole restaurant is full of sunshine. Furniture is simple and very relaxing, as well as the design (though I would call it elaborate Scandinavian rather than simple).
Well, what's about food? First, this place is a real gem: they have lunch menu on weekends! For a reasonable sum of money (about 100 crowns plus 20 crowns for hot drinks: something like 15 euro) one may get the main course (for example, my choice today was crayfish salad, and I had to say no to cheese pie, chili con carne and fish soup), unlimited amount of freshly baked bread with butter and a couple of other toppings, and water. There is also a nice selection of teas and various sandwiches, very fresh. Food in Gamla Orangeriet is not only tasty, but also interesting and healthy: they really know how to cook and match fresh vegetables of different kinds. One more plus: waiting time for the main course on Saturday was something like 5 minutes.
Another great thing there is a choice of pastry. Cakes, cookies, buns, sweets - whatever a person might need to accompany a cup of coffee for a nice fika (shortly, fika = coffee + something sweet, if this word is unknown for the one who reads this review) ...
Gamla Orangeriet is a rare case: both fika and lunch opportunities are excellent. All the sweet things are fresh and, again, I highly appreciate the talent of matching the ingredients of the cakes. Quite interesting to try, really.
To summarize, Gamla Orangeriet is not the cheapest option for eating in this part of Stockholm, but definitely, one of the nicest I know. Tasty food, romantic and relaxing atmosphere. Dogs and small children are also welcome and feel themselves great there!

They serve coffee and cakes, but they also have a limited lunch menu (3 options). The lunch is a very good choice though! They use local ingredients (probably from the garden directly), and the pumpkin soup that we tried was excellent. The prices are OK (95-120 kr). The design is simple and rustic. I'd recommend this place after a walk in the botanical garden.
