We spent two nights at the Hellsten Hotel and recommend it most highly. The reception staff were extremely professional and helpful and provided a lot of assistance over the course of stay. The Hotel is in a heritage building, so things are connected oddly in places. But the rooms are quaint (we were in attractive top floor garrett) and well-furnished. The breakfast was no great shakes - a little below the standard Swedish fare - but this was offset by an attractive bar, with live music, and lovely restaurant.

The hotel is well situated. It is a few blocks from Stockholm University, three blocks from the compelling pedestrian street that leads straight into the Old Town and has dozens of nice restaurants within a few minutes walk.

The Hellsten is a comfortable and interesting place to stay close to one of the world's great city centres. It is quiet, well-situated and very well managed. Enjoy!!

We stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel's ambience. The staff were warm and friendly, the location was excellent for walking or using public transport (it took around 15 minutes walking at a brisk pace to get back from the harbour). The breakfast wasn't as extravagant as a 4* in Stockholm I'd stayed in previously, but it was very good. The rooms were quirky, which we enjoyed, since hotel rooms are often a bit too generic and anodyne. And it was beautifully clean.

Hotel Hellsten is very different from most hotels. It aims at individuality backed up by a friendly staff and excellent service. Our party had the 3 top floor rooms which we found comfortable with interesting decor. Breakfast is definitely an attraction with a wide variety of food including excellent croissants and a do-it-yourself waffle maker. Constant free coffee in the lounge was very welcome after a day out in Stockholm. The bar prices were very reasonable and there is an air of calm and quietness about the hotel We found walking in Stockholm very easy but there is a taxi rank outside and a metro station close by.

We would certainly stay here on any return to Stockholm

Room Tip: If you want a room you wont get in most hotels choose the top floor. There is a lift

We stayed two nights at the Hellsten, lovely modern reception, quite a quirky hotel. The staff were lovely, the decor was modern, the bathroom in the room was fantastic and the breakfast was also great. The room had a very high ceiling and wasn't very cosy, yet at the same time was quite small.

The free 24 hour coffee lounge was a great touch, and the coffee machine makes amazing coffee.

The double bed was two singles together, but I think this is standard in Sweden, parking was limited and expensive however compared to Stockholm in general it is probably not a bad price. I'd advise you to book parking as early as possible as we were only able to get a space one of the two nights we were there.

Overall highly recomended.

Hotel Hellsten has nice decor and is very clean on the inside. Our junior suite was one room, but it was a great size---we asked for two cots, which the staff was glad to provide, and there was still plenty of room. Bathroom was a bit small, but not extraordinarily so.
But what really set Hellsten apart was the service. Breakfast was delicious, and staff continually made sure to restock anything that started running out. There's a self-serve coffee machine in the lobby (which is great for those who love coffee at all hours of the day and night) and staff provides free sparkling water bottle whenever you ask for it. In general the staff was extremely friendly and responsive whenever we asked for some help.
Metro and bus stations are very close, and it's easy to get anywhere else in the city. Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: The junior suite is a great size for a family--they even let you add in cots.

We only stayed one night at the Hellsten Hotel but our stay was pleasant enough. The hotel is centrally located in a nice, quiet and safe area that is close to the shopping district and department stores, and the rooms are clean albeit small, although I think this is generally typical for Stockholm. The staff were very friendly and greeted us warmly every time we saw them. Although the room did not look as nice as in the pictures on the hotel website (the decor looked a little dated), the room was exceptionally clean, comfortable and the bed is possibly one of the most comfortable I have slept in, I think I slept better in it than in my own bed at home! Breakfast was included and it was mainly a continental breakfast, but you could make your own waffles and there were boiled eggs, cold meats, bread and fresh watermelon. Although you could easily walk to the city centre, there is a metro station right around the corner from the hotel so if you want to save your feet that is always an option. If we came back to Stockholm, I think we would stay here again. It is good value in a very expensive city and you can't fault the location, clean rooms and great service.

We stayed at Hellsten for 4 nights late August. It is hard to find the words to describe the hotel and its charm. You start falling in love the moment you enter the hotel lobby and you are greeted with warm and big smiles at the reception desk. The candles that are lit all over the place create such a cozy atmosphere that you want to spend lots of time in the lobby and the bar area. The patio and the dinning room/terrace is another place you will love and most likely use a lot (like we did) while staying here. We stayed in the Garden Wing and we had a view of the patio and the dinning room. Since the dinning room area is covered, we could not hear any noise. People that used the patio were very considerate and did not speak loud, therefore noise was not an issue. The hotel is also located on a side street which is very quiet. We had a car and reserved a parking spot in the garage before arrival. Parking is limited and securing a parking spot at the time you book your room is advisable. Parking fee was also acceptable considering you are in Stockholm - 250 SKK per day.
Breakfast was good with enough variety, but do not expect to get the big American breakfast with scrambled eggs, potatoes, etc. They do have waffles, though, and you can make them yourself on the spot if you want to. Breakfast choices were adequate for the 2 of us.
Internet is free and there are 2 computers you can use at any time. They are located in the lobby area. Free coffee and tea are available 24 hrs per day.
Our room was big (I was expecting something much smaller) and very clean. Bathroom was on the small side, but this did not bother us. There is no bath tub, but the shower was more than adequate. The bed was very comfortable also.
The hotel location could not be beat. It is very close to all that you want to see. We walked almost everywhere (except back from Vasa Museum-the only time we used public transport)! Gamla Stan is close to the hotel and the walk is so pleasant that you will be amazed how fast you get there. There is enough to keep you busy taking pictures while walking all over town that you hardly notice how long it takes to get where you want to get to by walking :)
All in all, this is a perfect hotel for a few days stay in Stockholm. I would definitely not consider other hotel if we go back to Stockholm in the future.
