“Charming Hotel”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed staying three nights in this hotel. It was such fun staying in a historic 17th century setting. The location was perfect. It was easy to walk or take public transportation wherever we wanted. We arrived by train and were able to walk the few blocks to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the included breakfast in the tiny cafe downstairs. There was no elevator and steep winding stairs, but that just added to the charm. It was half a block to the main tourist street of Gamla Stan (the old town), but the hotel was on a quiet side street. This hotel stay will be one that I will treasure in my memories. I would jump at the chance to stay here again.

Room Tip: There are only seven rooms. I think any would be nice.

This hotel is in the heart of Gamla Stan (Old City); stairs are a bit of a climb but the rooms are large and well appointed; the hotel staff is very helpful -they sorted out a missing bag and handled it expertly- and the breakfast is excellent

Room Tip: #6 or #7 at the back

We stayed a couple of nights in this tiny hotel in a 17th century building. It has lovely atmosphere and is centrally located in the heart of old Stockholm, so ideal for those interested in the historical aspects - especially if you take one of the guided tours available (we went with stoRy touRs). We were on the fifth floor and the final staircase is VERY narrow for large suitcases, but it was worth the minor inconvenience.
It's not for those who want to spread out but it's a very pleasant boutique experience.

We were walking through the old town looking for a cafe for breakfast. I spied the sign for this hotel cafe down a tiny lane. We arrived after the lovely lady had packed away half the breakfast, she was very happy to put the food back out. How lucky were we, the breakfast was an absolute delight, close to the best we have had in our 4 weeks in Sweden. The cafe had a great ambience, service was wonderful and the food excellent! Good coffee too and 4 choices of jam!

This fantastic little hotel is really more like a B+B. It is perfectly located right in the heart of Gamla Stan, so you can easily get there from the Central Station, the delights of Gamla Stan are right on your doorstep and it is close to a metro station so you can get around the rest of the city easily. The building is down a quiet alleyway so you are not disturbed by the hustle and bustle of Gamla Stan. The building is about 400 years old and absolutely packed with character. The spiral staircase to the attic room where we stayed took a bit of effort to get up, so if you have any mobility problems (or very tall) this hotel is not for you (no lift - but a lift would have most definitely spoiled the character of the place). But the effort is well worth it as we had a bright, airy, spacious apartment in the attic, with slanting ceilings, and original features but tastefully modernised and decorated. We were even welcomed with some Champagne (or fizzy wine!) The beds, including the sofa bed, were incredibly comfortable, the bathroom was a little small but clean, modern and the shower was lovely and hot, with good water pressure. The staff were the friendliest I have ever met in a hotel, and could not do enough to help us. If you want a bland, samey, characterless, standard hotel room, this place is not for you. If you want charm, character, atmosphere and a very warm welcome, I would not hesitate to recommend this fantastic place. Thank you Julia!

This hotel is relaxed, quiet and charming, very atmospheric. A beautiful old building in the historic heart of stockholm, decorated in calming yet quirky colours. Our room was the smallest so didn't have the extras, was too small really but the bed was very comfortable, if I went again I would pick another room if available. The room and location for a short stay was perfect, not having to get any form of transport anywhere is an absolute gift, esp if you are from a city. We were only there one night before our swedish friends whisked us out to the archipelago, but being in this ancient area just 2 half days was ideal. The cafes, the lovely beer glasses! the cobbled streets antique shops and occasional contemporary bespoke shop were enjoyable strolling. Many streets are pretty car free too, which adds to the olde atmosphere. We ate at Fem Sma Hus on the island, something I'd researched and pre booked. An interconnected group of 5 cellars as named! It was a really good authentic experience. We gradually descended under stockholm to eat in the 4th cellar I think, it was quite late, so more relaxed and less busy with people leaving which was a bonus. We had some 5 course menu they were offering, which was a good deal and luckily consisted of everything you would want to experience we could think of in swedish cuisine, elk cappacio, reindeer and lingonberries, bleak roe, cloud berries! we then strolled back through quiet, narrow cobbled streets to our 16 century abode with its warmth and beamed ceiling. The morning was quiet both inside and outside the hotel, the breakfast room was quiet, rustic and informal. Not sure how many 'staff' we actually met! it was a simple but sleak experience, a real home from home feel.
