“Sandhamn - It is your dream come true all year around!”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

Sandhamn is usually thought to be a place for Summer vacation, but it is great all year around and some persons stay there all year around and love every minute. You find company in the hotels in the harbor area or you can stay totally alone if you prefer to enjoy solitude. Above all, Sandhamn never grows to be boring. Skiing, sailing, fishing, swimming...it is all there and very close to Stockholm. http://www.visitskargarden.se/en/the-archipelago/oar/sandhamn/

“Amasing Island!!!”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

I spent a very precious time in this Iconic place. Loved it very much! Weather was great, food was very tasty. The morning swim in the Baltic made me 10 years younger :)

“Amazing place - keep the secret to yourself!”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

Was worried that in reality the place I'd seen in the 3 Viveca Stein "Morden i Sandhamn" DVDs would not live up to the actual image that I expected it to have. A 2 hour "Cinderella Båtarna" ferry from Strandvagen in Stockholm dropped us at the harbour and then we were free to wander round the paths on the island exploring and finding the places we'd seen in the DVDs. We found the lack of signposts on the island a slight problem for navigation, but luckily had photographed an island map we'd found on the "Tourist Office" wall, and so could keep switching the camera on and referring back to that to get a rough idea where we were and to check that we were not walking through someones' front garden.

The beaches on the harbour side of the island were gravelly, so you needed to really look for a sandy spot, but to end the daytrip by just sitting on the beach watching the boats was a dream come true...and we didn't even hear of any murders having happened either!

“Top notch!”
Reviewed 27 June 2014 via mobile

Lovely island with Trouville beach as an oasis - wonderful running/walking trail around the Sandon - food, coffee shop, shopping, party.
Daytrip from Stockholm or Vaxholm or stay over the night at Seglarhotellet!

“A Beautiful Ferry Ride to a Quaint Island on the Baltic Sea”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We did a day trip from Vaxholm (near Stockholm) through hundreds of the beautiful, interesting islands in the Stockholm archipeligo (30,000-35,000 islands total) to this great island (Sandon) on the edge of the Baltic. It's about a two-hour ferry ride each way and that is half the attraction. Once in the little town of Sandhamn we had a great lunch overlooking the harbor and then walked across the island (less than 2 k) to the beaches on the Baltic side. They are good for sunbathing but the water is pretty cold for swimming. Back in the village, we had ice cream cones while waiting for the ferry back (get in line a bit early so your ferry doesn't fill up before you get on.). There are a number of nice little cafes around the harbor for eating and drinking. Hotel prices are high so a day trip is the best way to go.
