“Right place at the right price - friendly too!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2005

I don't get the negative reviews below - maybe if I had paid way too much I would have expected more - but getting a good deal is down to you (helped by Trip Advisor of course).

We stayed for a long weekend. We took a 300 Kronor room upgrade on arrival as this included breakfast, a room on Tower level and access to the Tower Lounge for less than the price of breakfast for two.

The beds were superb, the room big enough and the view of West Stockholm truly great - especially as the sun went down. The soundproofing was great. The Moulton Brown toiletries were a nice luxury - although the bathroom was not the biggest it was fine.

We had two truly minor room issues - which were fixed as soon as I asked - in fact when we returned to our room that evening, there was a handwritten note of apology and a cuddly toy for my delighted daughter.

The next morning the manager found us at breakfast to ask if in person the room was sorted to my satisfaction. It was and stayed that way. In fact all the staff were friendly and helpful throughout.

Buffet breakfast has a wide selection to suit all tastes. We didn't eat any other meals in the hotel, but the bar is very pleasant place for a drink before bedtime.

Perhaps best of all - although almost sounds unfair to the hotel itself is the location near the central district and the old town. All transport options are within 2-10 minutes walk as are most attractions, restaurants and shops.

I cannot agree with many negative posts concerning the Sheraton Stockholm as I enjoyed my stay there a lot.
Location makes up a good hotel and this was totally fullfilled by the Sheraton. There are not as many international chain hotels in Stockholm. I only know the Hilton Slussen ans a Radisson but these are not located appropriately for tourists as it takes some time to walk from those to the main sights.
It's probably not the most beautiful Sheraton I have stayed in but everything was how I expected it to be: rooms are clean, modern and equipped with everything what I need. staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was on a 5 star standart.
Cannot complain about anything.

We were staying at the Sheraton in Stockholm in late september and we didn't find the hotel worth the price.
The rooms are clean and the beds are good but they don't have have a refrigerators or a safe. Our view was not impressive.
We stayed on the 4th floor for fours days and the entire hallway smelled from cigarette smoke.
The breakfast buffe was nice but expensive.
But my biggest disappointment was the concierge. I approached them for restaurant recommendations trying to convince a husband who thinks Swedish food only contains herring, meat, fish and potatoes that there are some great culinary experiences to be had in Stockholm. We were recommended to go to some very nice places that were also listed in our tourbook. There was no attempts made to help us identify some hidden secrets and to try a variety of places. We ended up having herring, meat, fish, and potataoes every day. While talking to the concierge I felt as if I was bothering them with questions and didn't try to go back.

While in a nice location, this is most definitely a three star hotel. Expect a room like an Ibis or Marriott Courtyard, 6 Euro for a coke in the mini bar, 8 Euro to have a shirt laundered, and 20 Euro for a cheap buffet breakfast, all for 300 Euro a night!

Terrible epxerience, in comparison with the rate paid for (about € 240/night + 26€/night for the parking, without breakfast!).
Exception made for the bed, the bedroom urges for refurbishment and so is the bathroom.
The concierge was totally unprepared to give the right suggestions.
The elevators are dated back to the 70's and it shows.
The final touch was the display of a bed in the lobby.
The only pro, is a great location, but is definitely not enough for the price you pay for this truly 3-and-a-half-star hotel.

The best thing about the Stockholm Sheraton is its location - 5 minutes (at a leisurely pace with luggage) from the main rail/ Tunnelbana station T Centralen and 10 minutes walk from Gamla Stan and the Royal Palace. Front desk staff is very helpful. Rooms are well done and spacious. Facilities include a 24 hour internet service which is free of charge, a 24 hour gym and pool, a casino, bar and restaurant. Some may find the hotel expensive but we got a good deal through Expedia though breakfast was not included. However, location pictures posted on the hotel website could be misleading as the hotel is not on the waterfront. You can however request a 'water facing' room - which overlooks a main road and then the water!

Had a 3 day deal for the family, the rooms were fine and well equipped, even if they did not overlook the harbour. The whole hotel was clean and the staff courteous, efficient and helpful.
My wife said she felt very comfortable there and we enjoyed the German restaurant downstairs.
There is an unattended 24hour mini gym with enough gear to keep you fit.
Thanks to its central location, we used it as a base and walked everywhere to see the basic tourist sites. We did not use the Stockholm card as it is no good for many of the museums etc.
The only thing to watch is to get down to breakfast early as after 0830 a queue builds up waiting for a vacant table.
Really enjoyed Stockholm and don't forget to see the Vasa warship, a sailing vessel in fantastic condition, raised from the bottom of the harbour. There is also a 'motorised' Viking longboat doing trips round the isalnds.
