First Hotel Norrtull
Ranked #113 of 155 Hotels in Stockholm
Reviewed 5 May 2013

The Norrtull is located in the North of Stockholm.
I used it during a business trip and found two things to be annoying:
1) no Wifi in the rooms, only in the lobby. This is not 21st century state of the art.
2) The room was hardly furnished. Not even a wardrobe, only two hangers for shirts. Incredible, this felt like being in a youth hostel, not in a 150 EUR/night hotel.

The breakfast and the service are good. Anyway for the 2 reasons mentioned above I will probably not come back soon.

Arrived late around 1 am but no problems checking in. Very large room (space for ping pong table if had one). Think budget hotel, no phone in room and no tea/coffee facilities or hair dryer. Only cold water available on arrival so a cold wash. Next day had a hot shower after running tap for 10+ mins., Asked for a wake up call and it arrived on time with a load knock on the door! Breakfast was OK. This was a wine store in a former life so high ceilings and a warehouse feel

Room Tip: Try and get on the fifth floor

First off, the hotel's website says it is "close to the city centre". I took this to mean it's actually close, as in walkably close. Turns out this wasn't the case since it takes about an hour to walk to the city center. Even by tram it's still a good half hour. I guess I'm partially to blame for this-I should've done more research beforehand-but honestly, who has the time?

My major complaint is about how the hotel decided to do some renovations on parts of the buildings during the time of my stay. The fact that they're banging things around most of the day didnt really bother me all that much since I was out and about the town anyway. However, the construction led on to the night hours. How inconsiderate! Either you stop the banging when the majority of your guests are back in their rooms (hours you could figure out by simply looking at housekeeping schedules) or you shut the hotel down until the entire remodeling business is handled.

The walls are also paper thin and the floors are very poorly panelled and makes a lot of noise when walked on, therefore there's a lot of unwanted noise and you can literally hear everything - from the tv noise from the next room to the people around you thumping around during the night.

I have no idea what the previous reviewers are talking about when they said that the breakfast is to die for. We have better breakfasts in the dining halls in university than this. Not to say it was horrendous- it was merely just mediocre and in no way as impressive as I have been led to believe. There were ham, turkey, runny eggs, very salty bacon, eggs, a variation of cheeses and breads, and common breakfast beverages.

The staff was nice and the service was decent. Not much to say there.

The rooms are big and I loved that. It's not the most furnished (they don't have telephones you can use to ring up reception to bring up much needed extra blankets) but that's really no big deal since I only stayed for two nights.

Overall, I would not stay here again. I would much rather stay in a more modernized and better located hotel (that has room service and in-room wifi!).

Convenient location close to the motorway with secure underground parking.

The rooms were clean but disappointed with no tea making facilities or water in the room.

I would recommend for a short business trip but would avoid for holidays / sightseeing as the location is not close to the city centre.

so, in stockholm, everything, i mean EVERYTHING will sound very expensive! and, buy that, the hotel prices in the historical center scared me and i end up pincking this amazing hotel in far away lands. WELL, i not mean very far, but, its like 3 stops from the center and 10 minutes walking. for me, after spending a whole day walking in the city, in castels and museus, walking more 10 minutes do go 'home' was a little bit boring, but, not stressfull, because is a very beautiful neighbour and very secure. the hotel is very nice - never been to one like that before - it was an old wine house factory, so the construction is very diferent. the furniture is modern and the place ond, so i love the design.
the rooms were huge! the tripe room was to double beds (thouse king size beds) and the bathroom climatized, nice and couzy. tv, wi-fi, all good.
the breakfast, oh my good, i couldnt stop eating! soooo good!
there was also, in the louge a happy hour (not sure if they had food, didnt ask) but the bear is the same price in the streets (soooo, expensive!!). there was a market near by, and one bar. i`m not sure there was other places to eat, and the all close early, so, if you stay there, eat before taking the sub!
