“Better than how it looks from the outside”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

It's quite weird to have a restaurant in the metro underpass. I've passed this restaurant several times for two years but only tried it now.
The interior is quite nice. The food is authentic African food. They have quite a lot of vegetarian dishes too. Probably the best choice is a mixed plate. Be prepared to eat with your hands! :) (But they have cutlery if you really need them.)
The food was really nice and the prices are low (around 100 kr). Most of the guests were Africans which made the place even more authentic. The ground floor of the restaurant was a bit cold (since the door is always open), that's why most people went to the upper floor instead.

“Eritrean underground”
Reviewed 15 September 2013

This place is Eritrean rather than Ethiopian and is tricky to locate above ground - don't be fooled by the Kingsklippan street address on their website - it's actually down in the metro station. If you are not coming by the tunnelbana but are at street level on Kingsklippan, there is a lift (hiss) down to the metro station and the restaurant is 50m from the barriers.

The food is very good, tasty and filling. It's fairly spicy but not hot. All the vegetarian dishes are vegan, as far as I could tell. The mixed plate, a selection of 4 or 5 vegan dishes served on injera, with injera on the side too, is probably the best idea, rather than selecting just one vegetarian dish from the menu (I'm speaking as a vegan to other vegans/vegetarians here). If you want to select a single dish, I'ld suggest the potato and green beans one. You'll want to wash your hands before and after eating, as you eat using the injera to scoop up the food, not with cutlery.

It seemed fairly clean. Lighting is subdued. There is a bar and piped music; probably sometimes live music and dancing. Popular with Eritreans and local Stockholmers, always a good sign. 10 minutes by metro from downtown Stockholm.

“Great experience”
Reviewed 21 July 2013 via mobile

Ate ethiopian/eritrean zigni and zebhi and it was delicious! Nice staff and atmosphere. A bottle of really good south african dry wine and more food than we (2) could eat for only 390 SEK. Everybody should try this reataurant!

“Head's Up!”
Reviewed 27 May 2013

Seriously, if you don't around you'll miss this hidden jewel.
Where is it? If you're exiting the train in Rådhuset subway station walk towards the "Kungsholmsgatan / Kungslippan / Parmmatargatan" sign. Follow that and you'll see the restaurant at the corner.
OK. Now that you've found it, relax and enjoy the music and food.
I had the "sampler" plate, which had beef, chicken, and veg which was amazingly flavorful. Food is affordable.
The only downside, which is forgivable, was my waitress was not all that attentive esp since there were only about 3 2-tops and 2 3-tops.
Would I return? OF COURSE!

“A hard to find jewel”
Reviewed 24 August 2012

It is not easy to find this restaurant if looking in the "usual" restaurant locations around the block, but when you walk into the subway station Rådhuset, suddenly you are in front of the place. While not very appealing from the outside, inside the restaurant you will find a pretty cozy place to dine and enjoy an evening with some delicious and exotic dishes. The food is delicious and famililar to anyone used to other East African cuisine, but warmly recommended for those wanting to try something exotic. The beer selection didn't include any African beers, but the food was tasty and compensated well for the lack of exotic beverages. The prices are low compared to other centrally located restaurants and this restaurant offers great value for money.
