Great tour! Very interesting and well worth the time. Lots of stairs to climb and wet in places. Visited are given raincoats. Totally save but impossible to the disabled. Fascinating stories that go with the place. Copper was/is widely used for paint in Sweden. That is why so many houses are red. Color is referred to as 'Falun Red.' Copper also used in highway pavements this area.

The visitor center was closed and I just visited quarry and Creutz mine shafts. If you are interested in industrial history, this is a good place to visit. I will go back to go down into the mine and walk around the quarry.

Fascinating place and interesting museum. Would have liked some information in English on the hospital exhibits. Wear old clothes down the mine

The surroundings are very nice, but primarily in summer. Historical and pretty buildings, a nice souvenir shops etc.. but difficult to appreciate for children. The museum wasn't thrilling either. I primarily recommend this for grown ups with a keen interest in history. They're really the right target group, also for the underground tours which are more of traditional guided tours and not as joyful and entertaining as the ones we experienced at the silver mine in Sala, which also can boast with underground lakes.
Had we been there without kids the rating would certainly be higher. A sunny summer day is also to recommend for strolling around among the nice houses.

Das Bergwerk in Falun - need I say more?
The jewel in the Swedish Crown back in the days of the big Europen wars. Amazing in many ways. OSHA would never finish their work here. The dimensions. The darkness. The water. The sagas. You have to go there to believe it.
