“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 29 March 2014 via mobile

Ate there three times. 1. Irish breakfast to die for. Full for the day. Yum yum! 2. Thai red curry.... Totally cooked fresh from scratch. Huge portion! 3. 180g steak cooked to perfection in beautiful brandy or mushroom sauce... Again lovely! Guinness that tastes like it's from home.... Pipes cleaned daily. Lovely friendly staff..... And ladies ... Check out the cocktail bar man :) Ideal for families, couples or singles.

“Fabulous gastro food, full of flavour”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

We were going to go to a recommended restaurant in Foz Do Arelho and then go to the Irish bar for drinks on Paddy's day but we were really taken aback by the menu and the chef/owner of the Irish bar so we decided to dine there too.

We were blown away by the food and how reasonably priced it was. The chef made us some amazing garlic and chilly prawns with brandy that were absolutely delicious. To follow we had a steak with a brandy sauce which came exactly to order (blue) and it just melted in the mouth. I now live in Portugal and felt I was missing a spice kick so ordered the thai curry which, unlike other pubs, didn't come out of a jar. The flavours were beautiful and the portion so generous that I had to ask for a doggy bag.

The owner prides herself on freshly cooked produce from scratch and you can really tell. I've done some mystery dining in my time and just had to write about this one!

Loved this restaurant and the atmosphere. Great way to spend St Patricks day.

“Best British /Irish Bar on Silver Coast”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

Have now had two meals in this Bistro pub and both my partner and I would highly recommend a visit here. Definitely not a low standard Brit. pub but a fantastic bar within a clean smoke free interior, tastefully decorated with staff who are attentive friendly and very pleasant. The food is first class and is a not to be missed experience. The Thai curry was out of this world having ate Thai cuisine many times this has to be the best. the Sunday Roast on our first visit was mouthwatering. Having a menu that is so varied to appeal to all tastes is a credit to the owner and the staff especially as it is all so well prepared and cooked. Forget about looking for somewhere decent to eat and drink while in the area, you need look no further than this Bar. It won't disappoint.

“Popped in on the off chance, and so glad we did”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

We had read about the re-opening of the Caravela, but this was out first visit, just popped in for a drink around lunch time and decided to have lunch. Although pre booking is requested, we were asked if we wouldn't mind waiting a bit, so we sat and had a drink at the bar, by the way, the biggest glass of red wine I have ever seen. The wait was worth it, the traditional Sunday lunch was scrummy, roast beef, yorkshire puds, and a host of veggies, and our choice of dessert was fruits of the forest with ice cream. All in all, a lovely lunch, can't wait for curry night nest week.
